Slav is doing a press conference at the moment,

Ask about transfer news. Said no update on Big Willy, no progress for a week now.

We have been after a quality DM for a year now and no other target apart from Carvalho

We have sold players to fund the money for this postion

So we obviously have circa £30m to spend and we only have one target in one position. West Ham never cease to amaze me :arry:

In fairness, how many £30m + DMs are there that would conceivably join West Ham?

How about looking for one at £25m and using the difference to strengthen in other areas?

The point I'm trying to make is that I doubt G&S are serious about spending that kind of money.

There have been a number of other targets mentioned the last couple weeks like Pereira at Porto, Ndong at Sunderland

Only relaying what was said in the press conference, you can watch it in full of the West Ham facebook page

Given Barca have now agreed a deal for Dembele for 110m I'm assuming that the Coutinho chase is off...?

Or were Barca after both?

That Fejsa rumour I mentioned seems to have more reports but not sure if it's all coming from same source?

I still can't work out how the Ndong rumour equates to an alternative to Carvalho... if it's true... I read Sunderland manager had said we had not approached them let alone made any offer...

Fishy lots of reports saying they were after both although I suppose it depends how much money is left in the pot.

If we have been after a DM for a year why the hell did we not get Chalobah from Chelsea?

I think Wilshere getting sent off for going for someone's throat is a sign we cannot ignore. I saw it in the fire.

hehe, not that bad fortunately!

He said that it was not about that player and that player only, but the position and the quality. He is not interessted in "fringe" or "squad" players. It's about "boosting the game" - ie. he wants a better midfielder and of a quality that is not easy for å club like West Ham to get. So he basically said there are few alternatives and if they don't get him or someone as good they won't buy. So no Ndong or any of that calibre.

The emergence of Rice has saved the board 30-40m. I see Rice as a bonus right now but certainly not a reason not to spend, but I bet you The GSB do.

The only defensive midfielder we can buy is Big Willy Carvalho. If he says no we have to wait for the scouts to start scouting again, or Jack to use his Football Manager search engine.

Or he's the only player of that calibre currently interested in joining West Ham

So a few days ago Ex was saying that there was light at the end of the tunnel (re: Carvalho).

How long is this tunnel, exactly?

Most places reported that everything went on hold for 2-3 days while Sporting went to Romania for their CL games. They would have only left there this morning.
