So Wilfred Bony and Loic Remy were both available then ...... surely we could have picked up one of them had we offloaded Sakho.... Unbelievable.

Chelski got shot of Remy, bound for Las Palmas.
Will hopefully stop him being mentioned in the upcoming January thread.
Talking of that next thread any chance we can wait until the Boxing day games before it is started.

I feel sick.

That article is literally disgusting.

They have literally (yes I said it again) thrown Bilic under the bus.

No way in the world he would of turned down Krychowiak or Renato Sanches (deemed one of the coups of the window.)

Absolute cobblers.

And the stuff about Carvalho. He was available. The release clause was never met even if their bid was accepted at the last minute.

These lot are absolute ****s. They don't deserve us.

so if the carvalho agreement came "too late in the day", how did leicester get adrien silva (another sporting CP player) over the line while he was also playing for portugal?

or is it more likely the case that because the proper offer didn't come in for carvalho, they decided to cash in on their other key midfielder?

The posters who said earlier in this thread that net spend doesn't matter - our highest net spend was the summer before the season we finished 7th. Even that was only a modest 30 million-ish, but it shows you have to actually spend some money to make progress.

The funny thing is ,you actually don't if you know what you are doing. If you have some knowledge of the market and football and don't get all your info from football manager or teenage kids.Spurs have a -£20m net spend and yet have improved their squad and upgraded 4 players. And it's not a fluke they do it every window. Its not just about throwing money around ,it's about running a club like a professional organisation.Having people running your transfer policy that aren't ex pornographers.

He probably did that from previous experience of giving them leeway to stich him up with a near useless cheap alternative. However for an intelligent man I am equally flabbergasted that he wouldn't realise that using this tactic to prevent that he would simply end up with no one as he surveys the severely depleted squad that is the result of supposedly finding the money for this no show. Sullivan wears everyone down and thinks it's good business, except those he needs to in this dog eat dog football world where there are plenty who are well aware of his sort of wide of behaviour and will give it back with interest. Is it any wonder that this hard man Bilic now looks like he has been skewared and left roasting over the Sullivans garden party barbecue. Is it equally any wonder that the players will have taken note of his humiliation and lose respect along with the confidence that's already shot.

These owners are toxic and virtually everyone in the football world seems to be expressing it friend and foe.

Keep digging Sullivan. Seriously why, if your tactic is to make his existing club break late in the window would you not arrange for a medical facility close to the player to be able to carry it out on your behalf. After all as long as you have shown the commitment to carry the transfer through you get a fair amount of leeway to complete it before it becomes set in concrete.

How many versions of these lame excuses from him are we supposed to take, they are all remarkedly similar in style each window.

Last summer Sullivan's stalling with Bacca, who Slav wanted, meant we ended up with Zaza

Who we had tried to sign the summer before..........

Zaza was wanted. He just turned out to be ****. The problem with Baca was more that suddenly Sullivan thought he could do better in Lacazette (very probably true) and proceeded to screw up both.

lacazette was first and was never going to happen, batshuayi was the one who went to chelsea at the last minute cause we spent a month pissing about. bacca became number one target towards the end of the window.

I thought the ITK's were saying we had pretty much agreed a deal with Bacca then put it on hold for Lacazette which is why when we went back to him he said no. Happy to be wrong though.

It's not all about spend .... in the last five years we've spent net 100m, has that improved our squad? over the same period Spuds have spent net ZERO ... ask yourself has their squad improved?

The art of transfer dealing is not rocket science, buy cheap, sell high .... we are masters at not quite doing that, we buy cheap by not quite paying enough and ending up with expensive 2nd rate players, we sell quality players for peanuts because our contract management is shocking ...

Why does this happen? it's all about club management, at board level and on the pitch ... we have the tools, a 60,000 stadium, London, EPL status ... we just don't have the management ...

Owners can be Countries, Billionaires, Muppets, Fans, Nutjobs ... so long as they allow the club to spend the money it makes no difference ... West Ham are 8th on net spend in the last five years so hard to argue we haven't had the money ...

However when owners start getting involved in day-to-day running things change ... who doesn't believe that Rose and Sullivan pull the strings? and if not them then who is running our club? feckin' Brady?

On the pitch it's the same ... you need a manager with a plan, a strategy, players who can do what the manager wants ... Mourinho, Conte, Pep all get it done via dictatorship ... Klopp, Poch, Koeman all get it done via interpersonal skills .... the common theme? none of them suffer fools gladly ...

We employ nice guys who couldn't run a piss up in a brewery, let alone handle the feckin' prima donnas that pass for footballers these days ... it ain't going to work ....

The days of the 'nice guy' manager ended when football became a billionaire business, the days of the amateur owners running the club ... they're long gone ...

Either we move forward or we fail ... and at the moment we're very obviously failing ....

Unbelievable from sullivan. How not to run a football club. I feel bilic should not be manager of west ham and only got the job as he was the cheapest option. His previous club record is poor.I know from ex players that is man management is not up to Allardyce. However despite all this I am changing my opinion as sullivan continues to show a lack of class. The main strength of west ham is its superb supporter but sullivan and gold are embarrassing and they take us as gullible idiots. We need them to go

Spurs have a very clear strategy on signing players and their club set up is consistent from the academy right through to the first team. That has taken time to implement but they always know where they're going to look for a player.

Look at Southampton, another with a clear strategy that works, and has finished 6th - 8th for the last 3 consecutive seasons is it?

Our approach to transfers is walk into the shop blindfolded and see what we can pick off the shelf. There's no thought that goes in to it, a mix match of players fitting different systems and styles. We need owners OR a Director of Football that can shape the future of the club. It's fine if we don't have much money, I can accept that. But stop splurging anyone you can get your hand's on. It's so unprofessional.

Oh and Sullivan is a **** for that article
