Do you think we'd replace him in a week? Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the planet and have £200m to hand, and even they're struggling to bring in the players they want right now!sutts07 wrote:If they wanted to pay stupid money for him and it was done early enough for us to go out and spend it, I'd be tempted to sell. Apart from Payet, when was the last time we sold a player that the majority of fans were upset about?
Tomkins (maybe) ?

As much as we love him, he's got a similar goalscoring record to Andre Gray. Given his "versatility" (although I'm more and more sure that's a bit of a myth) you're probably looking at £25-30m if he doesn't kick up a fuss about leaving.

What would his value be in the current market? £ 60 - £ 70m?
1860OnceMoore wrote:If they wanted to pay stupid money for him and it was done early enough for us to go out and spend it, I'd be tempted to sell. I'd be furious if we let him go to them cheap though.

He (Tomkins) was the only one that sprang to mind, and I don't remember there being widespread anger, especially for the money we got. But I could be wrong...

We would never replace him. Our owners would trouser that cash and get a cheap sh*t loan in.il_martello_di_genovesi wrote:Selling Antonio for any money would be madness.
Would add up to Chalks theory that we have to sell to buy.

Antonio is 27 I'd say £30-40m ,but agree selling him would be mad.Imo he is our best player in how much he effects a game.Cant really think of another player like him in premier league ,maybe the Ox.Actually thinking about it would I'd swap Antonio for the Ox probably.

But his value to us is not an "Andre Gray" value is what I was alluding to as was Sutts I believe! For us to be looking at a player to come in that gives us what Antonio does we would need to be looking at a damn site more than £ 25-30m imho!

And how often do they come along? Brit Asambalonga - £ 15m so I guess that is the starting point for a lower division talent...
We took a risk on Antonio and it paid off, how many do though? To get someone who will narrow the possibility of failing to make an impact at this level, we would need to pay at the £ 40- 50m level - all opinions I know

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017
Antonio was condoning Costa's recent behaviour in an interview last week on TS, basically saying he's got to do what's best for Diego. A Chelsea bid would see him go I've no doubt. Wouldn't trust Sullivan with the proceeds though, that would be the worry for me.

Agree with that. Shows how good the scouting was and the low deal we originally set up to get Antonio too. Flew under the radar of most.
Antonio's going nowhere right now.
