Yes, sure I read yesterday that Celta's directors claimed Gomez' agent had last week renegotiated his contract without a release clause, and thus the club was confused by the agent then touting the player by dangling the former release clause.

Perez is a great signing especially for the price. Overall I think this has been an excellent window with upgrades in more areas than I ever thought I would see. Sure there are still gaps but this is as close to a complete overhaul as we are ever going to see. What does it mean, too me we won’t be fighting relegation in the last few weeks of the season & we won’t t be pushing for top 6 but we should secure a top 10 spot comfortably plus can have a go in the cups. We might get the odd spanking from the likes of City & Liverpool but we won’t get spanked by the likes of Watford, Newcastle or Brighton. We will play attacking entertaining football, the West Ham way. Next level, probably not but definitely progress & that makes me excited for the season ahead.

Probably doesn't make much difference, but it was 50m Euros, Bobd, so about 45m Quid. :P

All kicking off rumour wise now for last few days...
This interests me more:
We have been offered Kara Mbodj for 4 m euros cheap cheap cheap should be all over it as his Fulham transfer has fallen through. IRONMIKE.
That gets a thumbs up from me.

I don't really understand the negativity or the suggestion we're being skin flints.

We had a budget, we made use of that budget, and we have some small amount left we're eeking out as seen most useful.

Pellegrini has had the money and spent it as he saw fit. He could have saved 30m and signed Bernard instead of Anderson and used the 30m on a DM, but chose to use a big chunk on one guy and if the upshot is Carlos Sanchez and Lucas Perez to fill some remaining holes then I'm fine with that.

We've not exactly been inundated with purchase requests for our lesser lights, and it's not practical to just continuously accumulate players.

If we were signing Rice to play DM as a breakout player from another side (Everton for argument's sake), whilst keeping Obiang, we'd be delighted.

But because he was playing CB in a 3 for us last year it's not seen as us having upgraded midfield, wheras from our pre season games and watching him play it absolutely is.

Our bigger concerns should be CB where we have a raw 22year old, a South American punt, and one established player who isn't bad but not a commanding organiser at the back.

My biggest concern positions are at CB, and at GK where we once again have two players who want to be number 1 and believe they have the right (which goes against the way to have goalkeepers pretty much everywhere).

Central Midfield is ok, and has been upgraded with the addition of Wilshere, and the progression of Rice.

Where Wilshere plays will be very interesting, and even more so who steps in if his injury curse strikes again.

Selling Kouyate to a rival and replacing with Carlos Sanchez, profit or not, is a bad transfer strategy.

Sanchez cannot be any worse than Kouyate was last season.

Kouyate just will not sit in front of the defence though. As much as I'm not Sanchez' biggest fan, he is happy to sit and shield the defence at least.

Sanchez is a better defensive midfielder that Kouyate.

Plus money.

Spot on. For the position we were trying to get Kouyate to play, it's quite a significant upgrade.
