3. We haven't been linked to Belotti this window just people on here suggesting him.
4. You said we wouldn't be able to afford Belotti anyway.
2. we were especially with embarrassingly low bids. if we were serious, bid the asking price or close to. (proven correct may i add)
3. silly suggesting him knowing his market value someone like batsuayi would be more realistic
4. we cant

Doesn't playing 3 CBs mean playing with Wing-Backs rather than Full-Backs?ashbanki wrote:The key to having our FBs bombing forward, imo, is three CBs with two comfortable coming out with the ball -Diop,Ogbonna and Maripan? and a deep lying playmaker (Noble replacement/competition) alongside Rice.
We used to play that under Bilic and Moyes, but Pelligrini got rid of it as soon as he came in. He's very strictly a 4-@-the-back man, which is a shame because Fredericks and Masuaku make much better Wing-Backs than they do Full-Backs.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Most teams have full-backs that bomb forwards these days. They don't all play 3 at the back. It can be done, it's just a matter of having the right players.
Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Masuaku and Fredericks could be massive parts of our attack next season if we end up playing with 2 DMs.
Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
latest on twitter is Lanzini is going to be sold as he is challenging the legality of the 2 year extension clause on his contract and the club believe he would win it if taken to court meaning he would be off on a free at the end of 19/20 season.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
It may be a question of nomenclature but if by 2 DM people mean 2 midfielders who are happiest in their own half and rarely effectively cross the half way line then we will struggle.
Attacking fullbacks are essential in the modern game, pretty much every team has them. Systems may vary but very few, if any, teams play with 2 dedicated DM especially if neither is a superb passer of the ball because the ball needs to find the attackers and those fullbacks. The gap between 2 sitting midfielders and the front 4 will become huge.
This season we often struggled without Noble because we could not link the defensive side of the team with the offensive one. For me what we need is that link player to be a younger, quicker Noble not a 2nd DM.

The talk is back to River Plate, whereby we would probably get max 15 mil, only at West Ham this could happenBillydinho wrote: I really rate Lanzini but where would he go?

It will be what it always is...
Player and agent want more money,
So they come up with a concoction saying he will challenge his contract blah blah blah.
All so predictably boring.
Lanzini will get more money and sign deal end of story.

If this is accurate I'm sure we can find a way to blame Sullivan. He'll have insisted on some stupidity in the contract clauses to save a few pennies.ohsnap wrote:latest on twitter is Lanzini is going to be sold as he is challenging the legality of the 2 year extension clause on his contract and the club believe he would win it if taken to court meaning he would be off on a free at the end of 19/20 season.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
could it be that El Pel has had to change tactics to suit the hand he's been dealt with perhaps ?but Pelligrini got rid of it as soon as he came in. He's very strictly a 4-@-the-back man, which is a shame because Fredericks and Masuaku make much better Wing-Backs than they do Full-Backs.
Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Wolves played 3-5-2 and look at the season they had.Their CBs and FBs/WBs are no better than ours, imo - Where they differ is the versatility in CM , even their most Defensive Midfielder(Dedoncker) was regularly joining the attack ,the other two are best described as box to box (Neves and Moutinho)imo. They had, however, one of the best front two combos in the league (Jota and Jimenez)

I would not be upset about him leaving but obviously the money needs to be right. He’s a bit of a **** if that’s true though.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a two-year clause providing we were top-10 for more than x seasons.BostonHammer wrote: If this is accurate I'm sure we can find a way to blame Sullivan. He'll have insisted on some stupidity in the contract clauses to save a few pennies.
