They've pretty much bought a new defence, could take time to settle. They're all 6 foot + and mobile though so could work. With that lot plus Wesley up front they're going to be a threat from set pieces.

Would cost us around £80m. With Ogbonna, Byram, Cullen, Obiang, Hughill leaving, we should be able to recoup around £25 mil. With our negative net spend so far, it’d end up around £45 m on transfer fees alone. This would keep our squad at 25 players with 8 homegrown, and it would give us great competition all around!

Not enough home grown players in the squad....

There's no such thing as not having 'enough' - you can have as many as you want, you just can't have more than 17 non-homegrown players.

Pretty sure that's 17 non-homegrown players, 8 homegrown.

Rice and Diangana don't count as homegrown this season as they were born after 1st April 1998. Browne would need to be an overage, and homegrown, player next season if retained and not loaned, as would Silva.

The person on WestHamOnline, Mr Wendell, who called Fornals before the press did and pretty much stated this whole time that Maxi Gomez wasn’t happening, has stated that we have a “very decent” chance at getting Haller.

Could be nothing in it, but he’s been right so far this summer. Proceed with caution, but would be an amazing signing!

He has never got anything wrong on there for years actually. Only posts about 20 times a year though, called Fornals, Perez (told everyone the astronomical wages he was on for a 4th striker) called the numerous blank January windows when everyone was saying we were definitely signing players, said Gomez would never happen. Called the non Scott Hogan deal - said it would never happen cos Bilic didn't want him etc etc. The fella definitely has an inside track into the club.

If the only link to Zapata is via the Sun then forget about it. Atalanta have the right of redemption on him for €12m at any point, they haven't taken that up yet but surely will given the fact he's worth at least 4 times that now. This is the guy we thought we had signed under Allardyce then found out we couldn't get a work permit despite an appeal.

I'd be happy with Antonio up there. I think striker is his best position imo. He is at his best when he doesn't have to think too hard... On the wing when he has options and time he always bottles it. Stick him in front of goal and tell him his job is to bang it in the net and let him go.....

Agreed, he does not have a footballing brain but he knows where the goal is . His far-post headers are a lethal weapon and I wouldn't like to be the defender whose job it is to block his runs.... He doesn't get bullied off the ball too often!

I thought he did well at City, personally, a specialist holding midfielder. Would be a decent stop gap but we would need to shift Sanchez/Obiang first to make room for him.

£40m for Zapatta, is he worth nearly DOUBLE Arnie? 28yo and farmed out by Sampdoria, not really what Pelle's looking for to blow most of the budget? With Marega going to Wolves, Rondon going to China and Haller unlikely to take a step backwards (Frankfurt in Europa League), there aren't many options out there. Higuain & Costa could end up like Chico, expensive has beens and not the future Pelle is trying to build.

I wonder if they are monitoring the Peruvian 19yo Raúl Ruidíaz? Absolute mustard prospect playing for Seattle (26 matches, 19 goals) so would be cheap. His first time shooting from anywhere reminds me of Aguero.

Hes ok, sometimes a very good player. If hes ready for PL? I dunno, and i would tend to say, no.

Ben Yedder (Sevilla) cost 35 M Euro (club has to sell to equall his finaces) and is a far more consistent and has CL-Europa League experience too... imho..

Always fascinated as to what people's evidence is for this. According to Transfermarkt he's played a total of 26 games up top in his entire career and scored all of 5 goals there (2 of which were in the Championship and 1 in the League Cup)??

He's got some great attributes which seem to fit for a CF, sure, and he goes on some great goalscoring runs at times, but it's a completely different ask to make someone play predominantly with their back to goal, playing up on their own marked by two CBs most of the time these days, and having to bring others into play through close control and smart distribution.

Compared to playing wide, he'd have much less opportunity to run at or behind defenders, and he'd lose the option to arrive late in the box and to bully FBs, which are two of the things that make him so potent.

Doesn't make any sense to me and it'll be a sign of very bad transfer window if we end up relying on it.

When fit and on his game he is one of the most potent wide players outside the top 2 IMHO
Of course he can 'do a job' as a lone central front man if required [same as he can at RB] but his overwhelming best position is as an inside right
