I can't believe we're signing another right winger. Shades of that summer under Slav where we just signed wide forwards when the defensive unit clearly needed an overhaul.Patito wrote:Paraguayan lad called Angel Romero is the latest player we are linked with now. Never heard of him. UdC?

That link is a hoax by the sound of it, Yorks. Fear not.YorksHammer wrote: I can't believe we're signing another right winger. Shades of that summer under Slav where we just signed wide forwards when the defensive unit clearly needed an overhaul.

Phew!Patito wrote:That link is a hoax by the sound of it, Yorks. Fear not.
More seriously, I assume Everton will be replacing the outgoing Gueye with a similar player, which might flag where some more defensive midfielders can become available.
I think in the past we've been linked with a couple of their supposed targets - Lobotka, certainly, was discussed (I think as part of a double deal with Gomez?), while Sangare has also been linked.
Might be worth us keeping an eye on that and putting in a challenge to their transfer work.

It’s Gbamin at Mainz I think they’re looking to bring in for Gueye

You are correct. He made up the link to see how many people he could trick. Hilarious.Josie112002 wrote: Think that is the player that Ex made up a rumour about last Summer to see if newspapers would report it.

Plus I remember you arguing a few seasons ago that dropping Rice in and out of the side would shake his confidence (after him getting pulled off at Halftime Newcastle away!)

How strange for a fully grown man to make up a rumour like that. Attention seeking of the very highest.
Online
I know I keep repeating myself but.....
Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner, Fabinho. Perm 3 from 4 every single week.
Hardly totaalvoetbal is it?
They could play Dick van Dyke at centre half with them three metronomes in front.

Crouchend_Hammer wrote:The one area Rice is not that good at [yet] is tracking midfield runners. He is great and breaking up play and making tackles when the game is in front of him, and is very comfortable with the ball [in open play and tight areas] but he does struggle with supporting the CBs and full backs with keeping an eye and following runners going behind him IMHO
Partnering Rice with a midfielder with better defensive credentials/more strength/more dynamism than anyone else we have does not automatically mean going down the Burnley route, far from it

Three senior foreign players to fit into a squad with an already full quota of senior foreign players?hammerman11 wrote:marzipan pulgar and Balotelli would set us up nicely !
Where have these names come from? We must be selling /releasing existing players for them.
And is that Maripan the Chilean centre back? To add to Diop, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Reid and Rice? Plus backup from Cresswell and Zabaleta?
Which one of those would partner him in the starting XI?

Well, things have clearly moved on from a half of an orange in my day, but that's bound to help the young man feel pretty confident I'd expect.Sloop John B wrote:Plus I remember you arguing a few seasons ago that dropping Rice in and out of the side would shake his confidence (after him getting pulled off at Halftime Newcastle away!)

I assume the point was that he said the press kept getting their stories from him and I suspect people doubted him - so he decided to prove it by making up utter BS. Less attention seeking, more point proving.HammerAl wrote:How strange for a fully grown man to make up a rumour like that. Attention seeking of the very highest.
Just shows how much information travels faster in the modern age.

Of French-African heritage - tick
Young - tick
Another one that meets the less than stringent Crouchend criteria for DM/BtB scouting
