Not brilliant but adequate enough and he'll be pretty cheap!
Gutted to see this one has signed for newly promoted Cologne for just (I believe) 6m Euro.Polaroid wrote: I posted this in April in the precursor to this thread. Still haven't changed my mind on the basis that he hasn't signed a new contract. I think he's a Declan 'light'. Ideal backup and possibly a replacement should the worse happen.
He coulda been a contender, He could have been somebody.
On an unrelated issue, is the ensuing VAR having an effect on transfers?
Are managers having to think in an extra 'dimension'? A kind of who can win us a pen or not give one. I hope not if I'm honest, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that way.

I like what I've seen of Skhiri - I imagine he's moved on because they've signed Savanier. The domino effect.
Based on what Pezza said we're waiting for something similar to happen before we can secure a move for the man Pellegrini wants.

Just on VAR anyone else got concerns over Oggy and his Italian way with players in the box? It’s one of the reasons I’d have shifted him

I'm hoping, in my naïve mind, that VAR ideally will expose and crack down on the "penalty hunters" such as Zaha and Vardy.Polaroid wrote:Is the ensuing VAR having an effect on transfers?

I'm expecting to be wrong, though.

I expect us to finish 9th/10th. Hopefully wolves will struggle with the added pressure of European football and it could compromise their league position allowing us to sneak above them.Wilko1304 wrote:Is it ok for me to think we probably won't finish 7th? .
A good run in one of the cups would be great but I don't think our squad is strong enough to do this as well as finish in the top half. Our starting 11 is the best we have had for a long time our bench leaves a lot to be desired. especially if we lose hernandez

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Admittedly, I haven't seen a huge amount of him play, but in principle, I think Hayden sounds like he'd be a very useful addition. He's local and homegrown (counts for a lot I think). He's hardworking and the kind of unsung hero we've appreciated in the past. And more importantly, he's decent backup for Rice in midfield, and also an option to play alongside Rice when we're playing one of the "big boys" and need a more defensive formation.
I also think McBurnie would have been a decent 2nd/3rd striker option for us, more capable of understudying Haller than Chicarito (which is my biggest concern for our squad at the moment). I doubt the player would be so keen on the move given we already have Haller as main man.
Of course, aware that both of these players have a fairly substantial price-tag, not that £15-20m is a great lot of money in today's market.

Oli McBurnie will do alright for them.
Next season.
In the Championship.

Agree JonBentley. Clearly Everton and Wolves have strengthened and think we'll be in a 9th/10th situation with Leicester. As I'm one of those boring gits who'd take that every season that'll do for me! Sorry I'm just being realistic.
Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
It has gone very quiet!!
Are we actually chasing anybody at the moment?
I have not seen a HM11 list for (p)ages now.
Is something happening soon?

heretic !!!!!!!!!!
I think the suggestion was to rest/drop a player when his form dropped off... What you were suggesting is dropping Rice because he was young... NOT the same thing

Would you swap our squad for Wolves, Everton or Leicester's?hammerleroy wrote:Clearly Everton and Wolves have strengthened and think we'll be in a 9th/10th situation with Leicester:

Sadly, I think that is probably true. We're not gonna buy anybody with that, so might just as well stick it in the building societyEastleighHammer16 wrote:C&H reckon we have less than £5m to spend

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
sully said a 30m budget and we have a net spend of around 25m .
I cant believe how they get away with it a club our size; 60000 gates sky money charging the club interest etc and they spend around 30m !
we should have enough for the following
marzipan 15m
hayden 15m
Balotelli/Sturridge free
sell oxford 3m

It's a great message for the club to put out when trying to get a few bargains in.EastleighHammer16 wrote:C&H reckon we have less than £5m to spend
