You got to remember that although Eidurs Dads comments appeared on Monday afternoon it's not inconceivable that those words were actually spoken a day before and reported on the following day.

how many times have we heard a club say we've had no contact from so and so, only for the player to sign days later

Its the online edition of Icelandic newspaper, Fréttablaðið, the 2nd largest in Iceland. Very reliable paper.
