When you look at our players, we are far from a bad side. I think they need a lift now more than ever, so let's get behind them from the start and stick with it even if it isn't going well. We need that win asap and I think Wednesday will be the night! :crest:

I'm actually confident about this, Always enjoy night games and hopefully we can create a good atmosphere to get behind the team. I reckon it'll be a 1-0 or 2-0 win with both goals coming in the second half. COYI :crest:

I really hope we get something out of this but Villa are are a really impressive side IMO with a lot of pace and power but there again so are Sunderland and look how we did against them (in the first half )

I think we'll start like this:

Green
Spector Tomkins Upson Ilunga
Behrami Noble Diamanti Collison
Franco Cole

Subs Kurucz, Gabbidon, Faubert, Quashie, Jimenez, Stanislas, Hines

Noble at the base of the midfield diamond and Diamanti at the top end.

Hines to replace Franco on the hour, Jimenez to replace Diamanti after he's
provided the fire-power to win us the game and Quashie on for the last 10
minutes when we start looking nervous about protecting our 2 goal lead.

This football lark is so very simple :wink:

They'll play with width and out and out wingers and have midfield running round in circles again. Hopefully they'll be knackered from Europe.

The thought of Ashley Young running at Spector all match doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. I'd be tempted to play the TGV at RB, after all he has blistering pace, right?

No Kovac or Parker, we could do with resting Noble who is increasingly ineffective but he'll probably have to play. A shuffle of the pack might be on the cards, with Behrami playing the holding role, and either Stanislas coming in on the right, or Noble going wide and Diamanti playing at the tip.

Cole and Franco will continue up top, both having good games against Sunderland. I'd be tempted to see how Hines' pace fares against Dunne and Collins but I'd start with the same front two and see how it goes until HT.

Every chance of a win here, but keeping Agbonlahor quiet, Upson winning the aerial battle against Carew, and stifling Milner and Young will be important if we want anything out of this.

I've been suggesting this for weeks now, but, unless we develop some width as an outlet, we will once again struggle for midfield dominance, leading to the game being played predominantly in our half. And, if that means we are up against Agbonlahor, Young, Carew and Milner, I can't see us keeping a clean sheet.

Cole and Franco will start. I reckon we need 4 points from our next two matches. A victory in this game in hand ought to take us out of the bottom three (especially if BCFC lose today).
Spot on .

Sunderland really stretched us out wide - most of their passing was wide left and wide right .

We simply couldn't hang on to the ball long enough , and it kept coming back at us .For 30 mins we barely got out of our half, and Villa have enough fire power to make that count .

Exactly. For confidence purposes, even if its a Collins (o.g.), we need to win.

Interesting one this game .

Villa are a decent team who will play to strict orders from MON. They will play with two wide men , plus plenty of muscle up the middle .I epect this to be a high pace game - possibly the fatest of the season .

I might be tempted to play Gabbidon for this one, as a right back instead of Specs .

Midfield is a conundrum , as the battering we took on Saturday sapped my confidence in a number of players .None of them appeared to have the basic fitness level required ( but can all sign a good autograph) .

GK=Green
LB= Illunga
RB=Gabbidon
CB=Tomkins
CB=Upson
RM=Behrami ( if unfit Stanislas)
HM=Parker ( if suspended Quashie)
LM=Collison
AM=Noble
CF=Cole
CF=Franco

Subs will be crucial with any changes being made early not late .Hines for Franco early second half .

Hate to ruin the optimism. Young and Gabby are going to tear our wings backs a new one, whilst Carew bashes his way through our center backs.

3-1 Villa, Carew 2 and Milner penalty, Cole with bundled consolation.

For every 10 'must win' games we are ever involved in, we might scrape one win. This is a must win, and we wont, simple as that.

Our only hope of survival is to pick up the odd point here and there to keep barely in touch and pray to f*** we get taken over and Zola gets the funds his managerial talent deserves in the transfer window.
