That's good even for Messi! Think you'll find it's 71 goals in 122 Apps

Would like to see Rhodes join, he'll take a while to adjust to the Premier League I'd think. The advantage players like Holt have had scoring while going up the leagues is that they never made the jump straight away, they had a season in the Championship. DJ Campbell is the last player I can think as a striker that joined straight from League 1, didn't do well in the Prem first time round with Birmingham. However, once he'd had a couple of spells in the Championship did much better with Blackpool.

Sod Rhodes. Doesn't look to me to have the aggression and confidence his type of player needs to make it at PL level

If we were going to spend big on a player I wouldn't want it to be him

If it is 6 mill that will surely be structured in terms of appearances, goals etc. A straight up price tag that high would be putting alot of pressure on the lad. I've only really seen him play fully once, in that match where there was about a dozen scouts watching him and he scored 5 goals with pretty much his only 5 meaningful touches of the ball. He could be just what we need - right place, right time striker.

Is that really want we need though? Where do you suggest Rhodes would fit into Sam's formation?

Exactly what I'm thinking. I think Rhodes would much rather be playing week in week out scoring goals rather than sitting on the bench and playing 15-20 minutes here and there. He will be another Baldock purely because he doesn't fit into our system. We already have Maynard who seems content enough to warm the bench. If we sign another striker I can see it being in the Cole mould.

Do you mean that people are posting opinions of players who they know next to nothing about? No way

I'm not sure if he would fit into Sams formation or not - thats why I said he could be what we need, not definitely. Like I say, I've only seen him once properly.

conflicting views then, that Clunge on twitter said last night that Rhodes was only going to be an option if we didn't get promotion, and that now we are in the Prem they do not want to take the risk and would rather get in a proven striker in the prem.... time will tell i suppose.

( i would link the twitter post but its blocked at work )

I must admit, I haven't seen an awful lot of Rhodes. Is he better than Baldock?

If we had stayed in the Championship I couldn't for the life of me see Rhodes even considering joining. He will go to a Premier League side, be that us, Fulham or whoever...

Rhodes is a gamble if this "gentlemens agreement" is true. Quite the jump for the lad and it could backfire but he scores goals.

Still we'll probably end up with Andrew Johnson....

Clungewhu. Jordan rhodes was on our list if we stayed in the championship. not going for another unproven top level striker. No go

I believe this is what ohsnap was reffering too

I suspect Sam will try to play compact again next year so the full backs almost become the key players
Completely agree.

Reading the tea leaves - I'd guess Richardson and McCartney with Taylor as 3rd choice.

Richardson/Taylor/Collison disputing LM too.

Cheers mate. Guess it's hard to compare if they were playing in different leagues. Baldock had 4 in 4 apps for MK Dons before his move up to the Championship.

On the RB front, how about Khalid Boulahrouz of Stuttgart?

McCartney is very good defensively but ask him to bomb forward, start thinkining about his passes he struggles, still think he would make a decent CB.

Would he leave a Europa League club for us?
