West Ham Utd 1-3 Newcastle Utd (18/01/14)
Since no-one else has started it, let's hope I can be the lucky KUMB mascot of the week.
We will follow up a superb battling win and our first league double since 1933 with our first back to back prem wins since 1947.
Carlton scores first on the half-hour, the Messiah doubles our lead on the hour and Diarra claims Man of the Match with a central defensive performance worthy of the former captain of the French national team.
West Ham 2 Newcastle 0.

Pardew squats over us and does a nice nutty curler on the centre circle. Remy will score

Got to say that I am struggling to formulate the likely back 4 for next weekend.
Obviously, Adrian between the sticks, but...

Apart from Spurs, this is the fixture I need us to win more than any. I work with 4 Toon ST holders and the stick will be unbearable if we lose at home to them.
I've seen a lot of Newcastle this season and don't think we have enough to beat them so am going for a draw in this one.
Remy on his day looks class, the same with Cabeye if he's back from injury.

Collins back for this one yeh? Slotting in where Tomkins would've been.
Possible back four:
JoB/Linda - Woger - Collins - Rat

Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: Match Thread
we seem to say it every week but this is a massive game. Everyone knows how difficult our last 6 games are so we need to get as many points on the board as soon as possible. This Home game (and our easier run of fixtures in February) will decide our fate.
We win this and we go mid table, however lose it, then most probably be back in the relegation zone with an away game against Chelsea to follow.
Hopefully Collins will be back. I would start C Cole, bring on Carroll at half time.

I'm hoping they have a couple sent off today and a (minor) injury to Remy, keeping him out for our game
With an unsettled back four, we will struggle to keep a clean sheet, we will need two goals at least which may still only be enough for a draw. I'm going for a draw in this

I've given up trying to predict scores. All I know is I am looking forward to watching this game, a feeling I haven't had for a good few weeks.

We have to wait a whole week for this? Seems like ages since we've had this long between games.

Shame about Tomka's red card yesterday.
If Ginge, nolan, and Morrison are back, we are realistically only waiting on Reid and Vaz Te. And if we make one or two signings we are close to full strength.
Newcastle are good. I hope we can be better.

We really need 3 points here...two hard games after that. But looking at the Geordie's shift today against Citeh, I'm not looking forward to it. Grind out a 1-0 and I'll be happy

Hopefully Collins is back for this. Roger Johnson showed yesterday he's more than capable but he needs a proper centre back next to him. Other than that I'd keep the team the same unless Demel can't play, in that case start Macca on the left and joey on the right. The rest of the team picks itself after Cardiff you'd think.

I think we'll lose 3-1, but shouldn't panic nonetheless. The spirit shown yesterday + players coming back will win us the points we need to stay up without too many scares before the seasons end.

Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: Match Thread
Since beating Stoke 5-1 on Boxing Day, Newcastle have lost 4 in a row now, albeit two of those against Arsenal and Man City. The other league match was West Brom away and they also lost to Cardiff in the cup in that run.
I quite fancy us to get a result, but probably a draw. It would be nice to get rid of that back-to-back win stat though. Our next few home games (Newcastle, Swansea, Norwich, Southampton, Hull) all look winnable and a crucial period.

Taylor was popping up in dangerous positions and could have scored I notice, our marking will need to be spot on.
