Re: West Ham Utd v Chelsea: match thread
Strangely feeling very positive about this one. As bad as we were yesterday, we were fantastic against the mancs and spurs, and we always seem to raise our game under the lights.
Chelsea will obviously fancy it, but I'm going 3-1...

Nolan in for Song? Can hardly do worse. Don't think Nene will be ready for 90 mins, but maybe we should try him from the start then bring Downing on? Two up top running the channels.
4-3-1-2: Adrian. Jenko, Collins, Reid, Cresswell. Kouyaté, Noble, Nolan. Nene. Valencia, Sakho.
Subs: Jussi, Demel, Tomkins, Song, Downing, Jarvis, Jobbie.

Indeed.
The squad has been shown up to be light due to under investment.
Sakho and Valencia have been worked out at our place as well. Just defend deep like yesterday.

6-0 West Ham. Demel, Kouyate, Song, Sakho, Valenica and Cole to score. And celebrate by miming riding a train.

Jenkinson----Tomkins---Collins------Cresswell
-------------------Noble----Kouyate-----------------
Jarvis-----------------Nene----------------Downing
-------------------------Sakho-------------------------
Downing and Jarvis working hard to double up with their full backs to make sure we don't get exposed. Hopefully still be in the game second half, when we can look to bring on Song, Nolan or Valencia.

Re: West Ham Utd v Chelsea: match thread
I would have been happy with 3 points from the Palace and Chelsea games, so a must win for me. Heart says 2-1 but head says we will roll over and give them a 0-2 win similarly to man city away last season and liverpool away this season. I just hope we show some of that Big Sam defensive steel and a fighting counter attacking performance, even if we do lose. It will make the remainder of the season much more enjoyable if we can give it a real go.
Re: West Ham Utd v Chelsea: match thread
Also - I would drop Song and start Nolan. Nolan deserves a start over Song and Downing imo.

If we want anything from this game, then we have to set up how we did against City and Liverpool.

That team who beat City and Liverpool was the team that lost to Palace.....O'Briens Hair-Line wrote:If we want anything from this game, then we have to set up how we did against City and Liverpool.

I know that, hence why i didnt say play the team we played, we should SET UP the way we did against City and Liverpool, the balls in behind the defence to Valencia. Have Noble as the deep midfielder not Song, he needs to be further forward where he can hold the ball and set the likes of Downing and Valencia free.hammers92 wrote:

Collins should come back in
See a decent effort but think we will lose 3-1

Re: West Ham Utd v Chelsea: match thread
O'Briens I'm sorry but If we set up like that Chelsea will pick us off, they're the masters of it. I think we tried to adopt that approach against Palace but it was just one of those days. The quality of their midfield should make us cautious in playing the diamond, I'd be more inclined to go with the formation we played vs Spurs

That was the same we used against Palace, it was an off day vs Palace and were lucky not to lose both Jedinak and Murray first half to red cards. Filthy display from them both, i think we will go 451, same played just Valencia out wide.
