Manager 15: The Poll

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
Don`t get me wrong, I`m not digging Bilic out, I`m just not having it that if he gets the job then he`s some sort of "returning hero who will play the West Ham way" cos he aint and he wont.
Re: Manager 15: The Poll
Outside of Ancelotti and Benitez, all the names mentioned ar a risk. It is very unlikely we get Klopp, Ancelotti or Benitez. De Boer and Emery, possible but still unlikely I can not begin to understand why anyone would possibly pick McLaren or Rodgers over Bilic. Bilic outwitted Rodgers this year, and twice embarrassed McLaren. He did a great job with Croatia, and a good job with Besiktas. I think we are very likely to stay up if he is the next manager, and I think we can progress if he is given time and money. I think most fans will welcome him, and regardless of his defection to Everton, he has always spoken with great regard for West Ham. I honestly believe he respects the ethos, culture and history of the club. He is part maverick, part romantic, and a shrewd tactician. His teams show enough pragmatism to get enough results, but enough flamboyance to entertain. He is one of the most intelligent men in football, and has been praised by other respected managers including Mourinho. I think we would all love for De Boer to come here and have us playing total football, or Bielsa to convert us to the claret and blue Argentina or for Emery to take us to back to back Eufa Cups, but we don't have the players, the academy or the money for that yet. I would be very happy with a European campaign where we give a good account of ourselves, to leapfrog the likes of Everton, Swansea, Palace and Stoke. To finish in 8th and to have a couple of good cup runs playing better football than the last 5 months, and to develop a more professional culture. I believe Bilic has at least as good, if not better chance than the other realistic candidates.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
I am glad to see the back of Sam, I think he has taken a lot of credit recently in the press that perhaps should have gone to the board. It would be a lot easier to put together a montage of BFS nightmares than it would his highlights.
We need to take a step forward now, think & act ambitious. From all the names bounded around, I feel only those below would be a step forward, any other appointment would be a massive gamble.
Carlo Ancelotti , Rafa Benitez, Marcelo Bielsa, Roberto Di Matteo , Unai Emery, Jurgen Klopp
Possibly - Frank de Boer & Michael Laudrup

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
Harry for me, did a great job at QPR on a shoe string budget. I don't think it's realistic though as he will probably get the England job. :arry:
For me, it has to be my fellow countryman Ancelotti. However, there is more chance that Carlton Cole will re-sign then that happening. Di Matteo, Biesla and Emery would all be good.
A name not mentioned is Montella, who would make a good WHU manager. Surely Di Canio too.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
With regards to :arry: , thirded.
Since the question was "Who would I like to see as the next West Ham manager?" I've played to the whistle and plumped for Ancelotti, even if I think it's an absolute pipe dream in reality. Stranger things have happened though.
If the question was "Who do I think we'll end up with?" I think it points towards Bilic, who wouldn't have been my first port of call.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
I would like to see Bilic get it, but there are a lot of good names we are being linked with.
I wouldn't want McLaren, Rodgers or Di Matteo. Don't understand why we would.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
I wonder whether any of the candidates are watching the progress of this poll and thinking 'bastards'.

Well, Harry Redknapp must have at least eight accounts on here, as things stand!the celestial insect wrote:I wonder whether any of the candidates are watching the progress of this poll and thinking 'bastards'.
