Marvellous.
Now seems as that, if West Ham want him they'll have to pay the 9.5m end of story..

I know a few clubs have looked at him and passed so will be interesting to see how he does.
If a player scored 40 goals in 70 games in League One, or the Championship, no doubt Premier League teams would be having a look

Including us - we were heavily linked with him when he was leaving Spain. Think it was the summer we came up from the championship.

The funny thing about the adage that form in friendlies means nothing, I can clearly recall Sullivan saying that they realised they needed to add a bit more attacking quality during our dismal pre-season last year, which is where the impetus to get Song and Sakho came from late on. That being the case, you could argue a bad pre-season can be a help rather than a hindrance - it'd be ugly thinking of what could have happened had they not bothered with these two.

It could be the terms as well as the amount. £2m for the next 4 windows is much less appealing than £8m now. But if it is simply the extra £1.5m then I'd be tempted to say that we should just pay it. Or at least try to bung it into some appearance/performance related clauses.

If we have any chance of landing Mirellas for less than Jarvis we need to stop pissing about immediately before he goes elsewhere.

Who was the bloke Brighton spent a shedload on the other year who had been excellent in league one? Think they ended up releasing him. I know a few on here wanted us to go after him.

Until we offer £9.5m and they counter with £11m! I imagine that is how we ended up paying a kings ransom for Jarvis when we probably should have walked away much earlier.

Thanks xdoxley.

So, a difference of £1.5 million between what we've offered and what they want. What is each PL place worth? A million? A million and a half? His additional quality, additional goals and additional assists would mean he'd in all probability have paid back the difference, perhaps more, inside a season. And as he's only 27 so he can do the same the season after this , the season after that and so on.......

I hope the Daves start to consider deals like this as an astute investment to protect and grow their investment.
