Lawro was saying before the game that giving Oxford his debut against Arsenal would be like throwing Christians to lions. Well, our young lion proved him right!

Lawro will always go for the obvious...never goes out on a limb. He's a lucky well paid twat, we have to live with it.CazzaVR wrote:Lawro was saying before the game that giving Oxford his debut against Arsenal would be like throwing Christians to lions. Well, our young lion proved him right!

Just arrived in Hong Kong. Loving a Wan Chai bar full of soft Arsenal ex-pats and local hangers on. Shirt off when the second went in.
Reece Oxford was MOTM. If nothing 'cos he's just sixteen! Amazing performance FFS.
Also a great moment to acknowledge the performance against Astra by the Yoofs. And that the 'senior' pros were on hand and counted today. Know that he's 'over the hill' but wouldn't underestimate the presence of Kevin Nolan in the dressing room. Credit to them ALL.
We're proud of you, West Ham.

All in all I'm a bit disappointed with the result .
My prediction was Arsenal 1 West Ham United 3 .
Hey ho , can't get them all right .

I thought that the big difference today was the pressure that we put on the ball when Arsenal had possession . That energy meant we did not sit back and defend too much (Big Sam style). That is the future for the West Ham Way !!! It is also a more European style IMHO
Well done Slaven !!

Not singling you out, it's just that your the last one that's said it.BMU.WIC wrote: STICK THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT DUDLEY APE!
Can we not just enjoy the win, and not make it about Allardyce, because it could be said that without the foundations he laid, today may never have happened.
Aside from Oxford and Payet and Ogbonna, that was Allardyce's team out there.

Great result, but even the most positive amongst us have to admit it wasn't expected.

Great big attaboy to Slaven Bilic had the balls to put a 16 year old against l'arse, that's management , If only the Daves trusted him as much as he does the squad.
and even better was the spuds and l'arse losing the weekend just gets better and better

Re: Arsenal v West Ham United: Match Thread
Boy did I enjoy that.
Loved the cool passing out from defence, even when we were under the cosch late in the second. Loved the energy of the 3 man mid-midfield closing and hassling, loved young Reece's cool headed composure, loved Tomkins filling in professionally, loved not being run-around by Arsenal like every single time in the last 5 years or so...
....but most of all loved a really solid, strong performance from every player. Teamwork
