Seating design/Black seats

Post by EastEndIRON »

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere

At present there are still a substantial amount of black seats in the upper tier of the stands behind the goals (take a look at the recent video posted by Karen Brady)

Does anybody know if the installation of claret and blue seats has now been completed? Will the black seats be remaining?

Also, are there any recent pictures of the seating area featuring the 'West Ham' writing?

Those seats at the back have been covered over in black material as they will not be in use.

The West Ham wording will only be seen when the seating is in pitch mode, which won't be until August. The wording is in the Temporary fill between the lower and upper tiers to create the 'kop' stand.

Nice one mate, cheers for your reply!

I dont suppose you know the latest with the 'West Ham United' signs that were supposed to be on the exterior roof of the stadium? Has a revised design/planning permission been re-submitted

I think the stadium is coming along nicely - I was skeptical at first but with our fantastic support we will make it home

Sorry mate, yes there are a number of black seats that will be covered, but there is a lot that won't. Basically it is cost cutting as they are using the black seats that were replaced with claret and blue ones at the back of the stands.

The original application for 4 signs was turned down. The planning application for the revised wrap has 1 sign on the East Side: http://www.whufc.com/News/Articles/2016 ... n-revealed

There are also about 6 rows of Black seats along the sides at the back. These are West Upper Band 1/2 seats (screen capture from that video):

Shame the black seats havent been replaced, they dont mix well with claret and blue.

It will be interesting to see if there is any other West Ham branding on the interior of the stadium (e.g. listing major trophy wins on the upper hoardings like Arsenal did at the Emirates)

A touch more claret and blue is required

They have actually replaced white seats at the back with black ones. That block was all white seats before the changes.

Plenty of black seats behind Brady (more than i initially thought) Shame the claret/blue doesnt extend all the way to the top of the stand

Looking forward to seeing the running track covered up too

They would have been better suited to Anfield.

As long as they're filled who cares if they're claret, black or pink.

It looks as if they're in the currently unused area, where a continuous run of black seats is less noticeable than claret/blue/white ones would be. In the Brady picture they could be taken for deep shadow.

If/when the capacity is increased the issue can be addressed at the time.

Won't there be large tarps covering those seats when it's matchday?

If so, they could be any colour, even incorporating advertising or images.

I just dont get the fuss about the seat colour. It's sold out. They're not going to be seen on match days.

The black seats have been moved there from other ares of the ground (replaced by claret and blue) and will be covered with a big claret banner on match days... cost effective and sensible really... these seats will not be used by West Ham for the time being... if at all.

Got to agree with you it makes perfect sense. I doubt if we will need 66,000 seats in a year's time once the dust settles and we see how many won't renew in 12 month's time.

Some of the back seats WILL be used. It is only behind the goals that seats will be covered. If you look at Bengeo's post and picture, you can clearly see black seats at the back of block 205. Block 205 is catagory 2, and no seats will be covered/ unused.
