Could change the issue. If we come to rely on him as a winger then we'd have no LB cover!

Chris Wood having a medical at Burnley.

Probably a good fit - could easily see him flopping at a lot of clubs. But being a nuggety grafting lump probably works pretty well under Sean Dyche.

Any further noise regarding Carvalho? I wonder if he has started training again with Sporting yet.

For me, any reasonable offer for Carroll has to be seriously considered. I love the geezer when he is fit enough to actually play, but there lies the problem!

Smalling
Carvalho
Wilshire
Winger (Sam Larsson, please)

That's what we need, we're starting to look decent starting XI-wise, but we're very short in numbers considering our injury history. Sell snoddgrass and one of the CB:s (not Reid or Rice).

Still amazed by how many people don't seem to see any contradiction here.

Strange signing as Burnley have started moving to a 1 up front system, and Wood pretty much plays the same role as Vokes.

Selling Ayew would mean we still only have 2 wingers at the club with one banned

For me it's got to be Masuaku on the left wing whilst Arnautovic is suspended

Actually think that could work very well.... but he isn't a "20m" Sullivan signing so guess we are stuck with a lost looking Ayew playing hot potato with the ball on the wing

If Cresswell keeps the first 11 left back spot - and he probably will - then there's no reason why Masuaku can't cover for both spots. I would go with Bens formation exactly against Newcastle. Only one I'm not sure about is Rice and I'd be tempted to bring Kouyate back in.

To me he looked like he was trying with a side of caution, he's had a back injury for years and it played up only after a few games last season. I'm sure after a few more games he'll be back to his old self.

Exactly, highly likely the physio team have told him to restrict the number of high intensity bursts for first few games back. Sprinting at high speed to close defenders down when not necessary would be stupid considering his recent injuries.

I dont deny that those players would be an improvement but we don't want 7 improvements to our first XI. We'd get destroyed if we had a squad that never played together before.

I'd personally love to have seven improvements to our first XI.

carvahlo, plus a midfield playmaker, then i think we are done

we have a phenomenal 1-11 now, with some good depth in the squad...

only concern i have is our lack of pace, particularly when teams break...but the presence of carvahlo could help there

bench should be looking stronger soon,I think we literally had one player on the bench so far this season that wasn't defence minded - Sakho

I think we're short in quite a few positions: Centre back, Defensive mid, another Lanzini type midfielder, a striker and a winger.

I hope the rumours of Carroll being linked away are true. He as been a burden to the club for far too long and as much as I rate him when he's actually on the pitch, the cons firmly outweigh the pro's.

Jenks gone to Birmingham on loan. I really hope that he regains some of his confidence. It was quite sad to see how much he crumbled on that second spell here .
