So and listen tend be used when the answer is going to be long with a degree of exposition before reaching the final conclusion. It is normally a signal that the replier wants to be able to speak uninterrupted.

I don't disagree in general, but I think 'So' has now just become an unintentional lazy habit.
It's practically everywhere now.

It will never, ever rank alongside 'go ahead and...'

I can't stand people who start replies with 'so'.
Self- obsessed s**theads, emboldened by years of spouting complete drivel on social media, just answer the question nobody gives a flying f**k about your pathetic life story.

Speaking of such, I was in Cornwall last week. Lovely place, lot's of lovely towns, just a shame about the weather.

However, Bodmin.

Jesus Christ I will not be going back to that place. Clampet central.

Can't go wrong with Cornwall, Rars.

Lovely place, in spite of the weather, especially the north coast.

Yup. We did Port Isaac, Tintagel, Padstow and Boscastle.
The week before we went, the weather was amazing, but last week was overcast, rain and wind with sunny spells.
I was hoping to spend a bit of time on some of the beaches and also try a bit of spinning/feathering off the rocks, but never had a chance due to the wind and sea conditions.

Yes. Boscastle on a sunny day is fantastic. Really like that part of the world.

I find Cornwall a bit overrated. For some reason I prefer Devon and Dorset. Better weather and almost as beautiful with some more sizable places to visit if it is raining. Easier to get to as well. I can get to Weymouth in less than one hour and 30 minutes.
