I like to think I'm one of the most pessimistic and downright miserable people on here but even I struggle to find fault with the Wilshere signing, particularly seeing as though Lanzini is snapped.
Given the injury fears though this should be seen as a bonus signing, not a replacement for other targets.

38 games last season for Arsenal despite injury concerns

34 international caps and arguably should be in the world cup squad

26 years old creative play maker

what is it that disappoints you? and don't make the lazy injury argument...
The injury argument isn't a lazy argument. Go and talk to any Arsenal fan, they will tell you that Jack has tons of talent but is rarely available, then takes a few weeks when he is fit to get back in a proper rhythm which by then the season is almost over. Jack could be a great signing and I hope he stays fit to prove me right, but let us not pretend that Jack isn't a broken player, as is Carroll, as is Strurridge. Let's hope that his injury days are behind him.

I have a number of Gooner supporter mates and they've all text me saying pretty much the same thing. If we keep him fit, we have a world class player for free, he will end up being loved at West Ham, a proper player.

I of course do agree with those sentiments and of course his injury record is a concern, however I'm really excited by having someone in our midfield of his quality, I think he will do well.

Welcome Jack and good luck! :crest:

one of the things our midfield has always been lacking is creativity and that someone with an eye for a pass etc, personally really happy we have him but like many I just really hope his injury record doesn't come back to haunt us

Orbit, why would him having played for Arsenal be a reason? Could not care less about that. There is shed loads of Arsenal players I would be over the moon with us signing.
He’s an upgrade on every midfielder we have (excluding Lanzini)
Was best player on the pitch when we played Arsenal at home last season.
Just needs to stay fit.

I was surprised Arsenal didn't keep hold of Wilshire - could prove to be a very astute signing as I thought he looked good for them every time I saw him play - often came on as a sub and made a real difference to them.

Been on the go for over four weeks, excellent signing and still only 26, also head and shoulders better than any of our other midfielders and didn't cost a fee either.

Anyone unhappy with this signing needs their heads examining.

Jack Wilshere crap :D

27 Champions League appearances for the Gooners, still only 26 years old, I get the concerns about his fitness, but if they did not exist, he would not be here now.

Massive upgrade on our midfield

He'll be a good signing as long as we don't have to rely on him playing every week. Arsenal used him sparingly last season and it worked and he stayed fit.

If we try to build a team around him playing every week, it will end in tears.

I’m struggling to see him and Noble in the same midfield but we shall see. As already said this should be a bonus signing and we should still go for another midfielder and two wide players.

Ex saying that we are close to signing Wilshere, the guy from Arsenal. Would probably make a good improvement on our current squad.

If they didn't exist, even Arsenal would probably not have been able to keep him. Technically a massive upgrade on our midfield, however those issues do exist, I just hope he's past them. Could take over the captaincy from Nobes :crest:

England style 3-3-2-2

------ Diop - Reid - Ogbonna ----
Fredericks - Obiang - Masuaku
-------- Wilshere - Noble ---------
---- Arnautovic - Hernandez ----

Which negates, of course, the wingers that have been discussed, like Yarmolenko and Anderson, but is pretty much what I'd do with our squad right now. When Lanzini comes back he replaces Noble in the two alongside Wilshere.

If he's over his injury problems he's a brilliant signing and comfortably the best central midfielder on our books (possibly the best player full stop).

Then again, those first 6 words have been following him for a while now.

....he'll be an amazing signing for Bournemouth on loan.
....he can make a massive different now he's back at Arsenal.
....he'll be a great addition to the World Cup squad.

Really hope this is the time we can drop the "if".
