62 of the 64 matches played.

Still only one Goalless draw. That is pretty darn remarkable.

The goodness (or not) of a World Cup is directly proportional to how well England do in it. Therefore, this was the joint second best one ever.

I did not think Brazil 2014 would be bettered, but this has done that.

64 games, 169 total goals. 6 goals in the Final. Only one 0-0 and some amazing goals.

Plus we may finally have our England back.

10 out of 10.

8 out of ten for me (would be 10 but cheating is still going unpunished too often)

Revised now, going to say 9 out of 10 because of all the VAR b*llocks.

A good 8/10 for me - some good matches, the final had two sides trying to score rather than keep a clean sheet, the faith has been restored in England, Southgate has class, VAR wasn’t as annoying as I thought it would be. An England win and no histrionics would have pushed up a couple of points for me.

Agree with the general  for this competition. Never watched so many games despite being in the same working hours/near home situation for the last two and never had so much interest in non-England games. That was the best final can recall too despite the ref having his head bent by VAR for that penalty. Really felt we were watching the two best teams (Belgium aside). 9/10

On a side note, didn't see anything of Putin till the final (did I miss him at Russia's games?). Possibly he was deliberately 'de-politicising' the event. Fair dos for that I suppose.

Solid 8/10

Would have been 9/10 if Croatia had won today. Felt bit robbed by that first half but blown away in second

10/10 would be England winning ofc

Based on my memories of previous World Cups (my first full one being 1990), I'd say this was my favourite World Cup yet. Great matches, tons of goals and England being both entertaining and decent.

Now I'm so sad it's all over.

That it was Pussy Riot that invaded the pitch adds to the color of this Cup. I think it was an exciting Cup filled with a lot of drama. The crappy teams weren't nearly as crappy as usual, and the very top sides weren't as good as usual. That meant that there was a fair amount pf parity. From there every team gave everything and we were rewarded with much more entertainment than usual.

One of the best World Cups in years, lots of excellent games, a worthy winner and England finally turning up and making us proud. I might actually watch their next friendly now.

I loved it and feel a little deflated that it's over and disappointed that France won, though I accept that they were deserved winners and probably the best team in the competition.

Went into this tournament with little expectation. I think it's been the best one since '98, possibly better?
