I didn't but I COULD have done
Back on topic - I believe we'll give our all, play attractive football but lose to a better oiled unit.

Re: West Ham Utd v Wolverhampton Wanderers match thread (01/09)
would you rather?:
a 2-2 draw that sees us build on the same attacking ethos we've had the last couple of matches and generally play some lovely stuff.
a 1-0 win like swansea last season or sunderland/burnley the year before where we're ***** all the way through but somehow come out with 3 points.
despite being rooted to the bottom of the table, i still think i'd prefer the former.

Fabianski
Fredericks Diop Balbuena Cresswell
Wilshere Sanchez
Yarmalenko Anderson Snodgrass
Hernandez(Arnautovic if he's fit)
This would be my team but i think Pellegrini will play Masuaku and Antonio instead of Cresswell and Yarmalenko

I agree Beavis, stick to Pellegrini's plan, and stay patient, it'll be worth it in the long run, when there's an identity and a style of play we can associate with.
Re: West Ham Utd v Wolverhampton Wanderers match thread (01/09)
Have you seen how slick their midfield is, reckon we will be chasing shadows most of this game, as our team is still gelling together...
Re: West Ham Utd v Wolverhampton Wanderers match thread (01/09)
Me too, Beavis. Proper football and a bit of patience.

*BEFORE THE ABUSE FOR CHOOSING ARTHUR*
Toss up with Arthur and Cress for me, cannot drop Snodgrass and Anderson should play through the middle for me, just in that first half we lacked pace down that left side which is why I would choose Arthur over Cress, because Snoddy did put some venomous crosses in from the left.
Rice unfortunate to miss out and would rather him than Ogbonna and Balbuena but would leave a very inexperienced defence, Ogbonna was at fault for the goal tonight but Wolves don't have a Hanson type player up top who they will just lump it too, and Balbuena hasn't looked great either for me, especially on the floor, and doesn't really have the pace to cope with Wolves.

Yes, watching them against Man City last weekend, they looked a lot better than Bournemouth!Ferret wrote:Have you seen how slick their midfield is, reckon we will be chasing shadows most of this game, as our team is still gelling together...
Should be a good game - hopefully ending in our favour

Won't happen, but it's what I'd like to see.

Can I have a 0-0 that sees us build on the same attacking ethos we've had the last couple of matches and generally play some lovely stuff? Maybe the GK can have a worldie and we have three cleared off the line and three stonewall penalties turned down.Beavis Danzig wrote:would you rather?:

I am sick to the back teeth of constantly letting in two or more goals a game.

you're in for a long season!James P wrote:I am sick to the back teeth of constantly letting in two or more goals a game.
anyway, this game isn't so important, last time we lost the first four it was avram's season...
Re: West Ham Utd v Wolverhampton Wanderers match thread (01/09)
As much as I think Yarm will be a big player for us, he doesn't look match fit, so I wouldn't start him on Saturday.
Fabianski
Fredericks
Diop
Ogbonna
Cresswell
Sanchez
Wilshire
Antonio
Anderson
Snodgass
Arnie
If Arnie isn't fit, I would more Antonio up front and play Perez in the attacking 3 behind him.

Re: West Ham Utd v Wolverhampton Wanderers match thread (01/09)
I would play Antonio up front if Arnie isn't fit as he's the only one who gives a physical threat and an aerial threat. It's difficult to say how good Wolves are. Their performance against City was very good, but it seemed a bit of a cup final for them. I thought City seemed very complacent and David Silva was unusually very poor. Without De Bruyne Silva is vital to their attack and he just didn't deliver. In Wolves first game they struggled against 10-man Everton in contrast to their City performance. They are one of the few teams routinely playing 3 at the back this season so it will be an interesting tactical contest. Fredericks and Cresswell as FB for me, but I think Arthur. may get the nod. Still not a defender for me

Which stinks of disrespect to Wolves.Samba wrote:K/O 3pm.
With no disrespect to Wolves, at home especially, this is a game that we should be winning..
If you had watched their performance against City on Saturday you would surely make Wolves favourites for this game. They have the type of players that may well scare the hell out of our back four.
Having said all that, I have a sneaking feeling.....................

Re: West Ham Utd v Wolverhampton Wanderers match thread (01/09)
for those calling for Antonio up top, did you witness his "finishing" n the last couple of games ??
I used to think that he was one of a very small number (zero) who could score for us before Arnie came..
his last few efforts against Arsenal and Wimbledon were poor to say the least....
Perez might could lead the line, I thought that someone had left him in the dressing room at h-t last night having said that though.....
