Little things in life that make you smile

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

I'm now 2-0 up against my immediate team. 3 to go, and given one of our team is registered blind, the smart money has to be on me continuing my reign of dominance.

Am tempted to bring a stereo with me, play Werewolf of London by Warren Zevon, and dance round the table in the style of Tom Cruise in Colour of Money as I mercilessly crush the guy who carries a white stick in the office and who occasionally bumps into vertical pillars and door frames.

Have you played anyone that you can't sack or affect their promotion prospects?
Thought not :)

TBF, I won by dint of being "least sh*t", rather than "best".

The thrusting young research interns and technician webtards hog the ping pong table every lunch time. Lots of Napoleon Dynamite beta male posturing and strutting goes on, I think it became the most important thing in their lives except Fortnight and crying. So they organised a tournament.

Our chairman is in his late 60s, and hasn't been too clever since his arse cancer operation. But what most people don't know is that he represented GB at table tennis in the 70s. Much gloriously hilarious wiping of floors ensued.

That blokes not blind, Dan.

Makes no odds to me. I’ll smoke that motherf*cker like everyone else.

Fortunately, the bloke who played snooker for GB as a kid as gone to work elsewhere.

Mrs is bonkers

Mrs: you drank a whole bottle of Brandy
me: er no, for starts , it still has a quarter left
Mrs: but thats nearly a whole bottle
Me: secondly , there was me and Dan drinking it so therefore its really not that much, and by the way that bottle as you call it is only a half bottle ,so therefore I have drunk half of three quarters of a half
she ****ed off, said she needed to look in on the granddaughter who is staying over

A couple of young twenty-somethings in a small town pub yesterday, ordering their drinks at the bar and then looking utterly perplexed when the landlady informed them that they only took cash. Watching them scrabble around to find some cash was amusing - lucky for them as it was a wedding their were older relations on hand.

That pic of Kevin Friend in the news item. Held just a little lower and it might have been even more embarrassing for him.

Finding out that colleague of mine got Radio 2 to play 2 dedications on Chris Evans' Gob smackers segment for a fellow colleague that passed away a couple of weeks ago.

The choices were genius IMO. It brought a smile and a tear to my face.

The £500,000 cake.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-45789759

All that over a cake that retailed at £36.50.

Of all the problems in the world etc, a 4 year court case over a cake.
