Genius really, and ever since then we have had a team full of ugly gits and won next to f*** all. Its time for James Tomkins to step up and play with his hair between set pieces.

Bobby Moore wasnt even the best in his position. He was just the prettiest. But playing for media darlings West Ham got you selected. Jimmy Adamson was a great player but overlooked for England caps. Joe Shaw who played for Sheff Utd was the best centre back of his generation and was also overlooked by England selectors.
"

Yes, think what England could have won if Adamson or Shaw had played.

I presume the idea of us being media darlings comes from Eastenders and having a few famous fans?
Everyone else hates us because of the stadium.
Strangely enough i seem to remember standing next to Burnley Fan Alastair Campbell in the queue for Hackney Wick last season.
But they obviously haven't watched our coverage time during the pre-match build up on sky when playing against any of the top six, which i should think matches Burnley's... About 3 minutes and usually negative.
Or that we are nearly always last on match of the day.

Up north, they think every team from London are 'media darlings'.

According to Wikipedia Jimmy Adamson and Joe Shaw retired in 1964 and 1966 respectively. I am guessing that being ugly bastards isn't the only reason that they both missed out on World Cup glory.

They would have both been over 30 once 1960 came around, and Bobby would have been 19...That is one incredible grudge to keep, I kind of like random stuff like that

I'm sure it's already been said but wanted to stress how bad the ref was in this game and I'm not even talking about the pen that wasn't given. Many examples but the one that stood out was where the Burnley player bear hugs Snodgrass when on the counter, advantage given, but he didn't even come back to give the bloke a yellow when play had stopped.?!?!

complaints about the ref just need to know one thing. It was roger East (so I'm told) who is probably the worst ref in the league.

Good result, another day Anderson could have had 4 or 5 and I thought Arnie should of had a second when he was through but tried to play Hernandez in.

Couldn't believe that headed clearance Burnley managed when Anderson took that long shot, no idea how he managed to stop that going in!
It was a truely brilliant bit of defending.
Fantastic result. Pellers is turning us slowly but surely.

"It's West Ham FFS, you can't expect to compete with teams like this when they've spent million of pounds on players. The ref was poor. We were good in patches. We aren't a million miles away. We will be fine when Brady and Defour get back playing. We need to start Vydra. Points will come in the next few weeks. We will get back to basics."
- MACCA
Am I reading that right?

We've finally spent some of the money we've been hoarding trying to limp through the last 2 (and then some) seasons spending the bare minimum.

The ref was poor but more because there were 2 straight red challenges from Burnley players and a blatant penalty for us ignored. I doubt that's what he was eluding to.

Things you learn ay?

What on earth is the ref saying at half time...

"I didn't think it was" - to Marko
"there's contact, you made the contact" - to Grady

He is even more of a plum than I first thought. This after surely being told at half time how nailed on it was.
Stubborn old fool.
