—————-fabianski

Zabs—-general —diop—cresswell

————-obiang rice

Antonio —-Anderson—-snodgrass

—————-arnie

Obiang for me this one because Brighton were more men behind ball need breaking down with smart-thinking. Arsenal are faster and with the legs we can catch them on the counter

I’d play nasri on the left if he is ready

4-2-3-1: Fabianski; Zabaleta, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Rice, Noble; Antonio, Snodgrass, Anderson; Arnautovic.
Subs: Adrian, Balbuena, Masuaku, Obiang, Nasri, Carroll, Diangana.

2 all draw.

We can't afford to continue losing posession cheaply or we'll be ripped apart. For that reason I'd revert to 4-2-3-1 and pick nasri.

-------------------fab

Zab------diop-----ogbonna----cresswell

-------------Noble---Rice

Antonio------Nasri------Anderson

-------------------Arnie

Not entirely comfortable with Antonio as he's never quite on the same wavelength as anyone else but... couple of assists in his last 2 games gives him a starting spot. We need to enter this game with a lot more composure than previous games, and calm the game down with good possession play or else our defenders are going to struggle. Balbuena goes back in if he's fit instead of ogbonna.

Keeping possession will be important in this one which is why Antonio misses out, which is harsh because he’s been good:

————- fabianski ———-
Zabaleta Diop Ogbonna Cress
—————- Rice ————
Nasri Obiang Snodgrass Anderson
———— Arnautovic———-

Snodgrass, Obiang and Rice in CM no because they’re our best players but because arsenal are a good side.

This is what I’d like to play if everyone was fit:

————- Fabianski —————-
Zabaleta Diop Balbuena Cresswell
———- Nasri Rice Lanzini ———
Yarmolenko Arnautovic Anderson

Probably end up 6-4 to them, but what a team that would be!

I'm never confident of getting anything against Arsenal -

Saw them take Tottenham apart 4-2 , they were different class that day - since then they've drawn 2-2 with Man Utd , beaten Huddersfield 1-0 , lost 3-2 against Southampton , beaten Burnley 3-1 and drawn with Brighton 1-1 so apart from the Burnley result they haven't been outstanding since the Tottenham match .

They're still a very good side , on their day they play the best football in the Premiership [ in my opinion ] and while I can never predict a West Ham loss I can't see us getting anything out of this game , if we had a fully fit squad I'd be more confident but I think we'll do well to get a draw .

However , having said all that West Ham can sometimes surprise us against the Big Boys so i'm going with -

West Ham United 3 Arsenal 1

they can't defend at all...

neither can we actually..........

no clean sheets for them in the last eternal games I think and other than today, nor do we.

score draw....

Whatever else happens in this match, I vote that Noble wipes out Gwen Guthrie...the barnet needs taking down a peg or two.

How would supporters feel if we played a weakened team for this ? Thought not.

Yet we see the cup competitions devalued round after round.

Strongest team for me, a 4141, Nasri isn't fit enough to start so its Rice at DM and Noble and Snoddy in the middle, ****ed by Antonio and Anderson, Arnie up top. Backline of the General , Diop , Cressy and Zab. Absolutely Fab in goal.

One goal margin either way .

A much needed week off. The team for me would be:
Fabianski, Zabaleta, Balbuena (if fit?), Diop, Cresswell, Rice, Noble, Snodgrass, Antonio, Anderson, Arnautovic
Subs: Adrian, Masuaku, Ogbonna, Nasri, Diangana, Chicharito (if fit?), Carroll
Reserve: Perez
Injury List: Reid, Fredericks, Sanchez, Lanzini, Wilshere, Yarmolenko.

I’d play Snodgrass in a midfield 3 ahead of Rice and Noble, with Anderson and Antonio out wide of Arnie - rather than 4-4-2 with Antonio leading the line with Arnie.

I’m never confident when playing Arsenal as we probably have the worst record against them than any other club for the past 10 years. We broke a very unsuccessful run in 2015 where we didnt win against them in 15 games, although since then it’s now 7 games (W0 D2 L5) in all competitions.

Since the 1st January 2008 in the Premier League:
Arsenal 15
Draws 4
West Ham 1
Arsenal Goals 49
West Ham Goals 15

Another 12:30 kick off - guessing the loudest noise most of us STH’s will hear for this one is our alarm clocks!

Especially given the oppo and their penchant for “atmosphere”

No idea about the game. 2-2 if it’s Arnie, 1-3 if it’s not.

Where had the news come from that Chica and Balbuena are in the running to make the squad?

If they are fit that changes my outlook.

If we play with real energy and intensity we will beat them.

That is terrible

The slight counter-weight is that we actually didn't play that badly in the last two away defeats that we've had against this lot.

Balbuena is perhaps the most important variable here. If he's fit again, is it a bit risky to return him straight to first team duties?

Arsenal's strongest suit is the strike partnership between Aubameyang and Lacazette; if we're not fully firing in defence (ok, as fully as possible, in the circumstances), we will get beaten.

Definitely need some Antonio strength and power, to get the ball down in their half, too, and he's on a hot assist streak at the moment.

Scoredraw p:m predict.

I thought Emery was going to get a one-match ban for this match due to his kicking a water bottle that hit a fan. He got away with a fine.
Previously, the FA suspended Mourinho for one match when he kicked a water bottle that didn't hit a fan.

More inconsistency. But in this case it might actually be to our advantage
