KUMB Photography Thread
As it says on the tin - seems there again quite a few of us that like getting the DSLR out and having a play about, and some that want to get in to it.
So, get your advice, tips and share your pictures here!

Lovely pics, DL.
You've certainly got an eye for framing. Great thread.

Re: KUMB Amature Photography Thread 2019
FFS mr leg, you could have set the bar a bit lower couldn't you?
Anyway I am a keen snapper, and have a Canon EOS M, which isnt a DSLR but does have interchangeable SLR lenses. Is it a system camera?
I just point and shoot, a bit like the old Olympus Trip idea (another great camera). Then I see what happens, people, places , etc etc.
I shall take some in the next few days and post them up.
What hosting site do you use these days?

That second one with the frost is outstanding IMO, DL, as you've managed to capture so many different layers (I have no idea what the correct terminology is here ).

I do a bit of photography, mostly for work but in my spare time it's nearly always nature and architecture

Re: KUMB Amature Photography Thread 2019
A great thread....
I love photography. I started doing it in my late teens but I found it difficult at that time to get the style of photo I wanted. I was a bit precious I think...
In all honesty, my willingness outweighed my talent by about 5 to 1.
Still, I enjoy looking at other peoples. The wildlife , the animals......both top of my list.
Keep them coming...

Re: KUMB Amature Photography Thread 2019
OK, help please.
I haven't had a camera for years. I spend inordinately long periods of time outside walking (well, limping) watching birds, and fishing.I'd love to be able to take photos half as good as those, and seeing as ,in winter especially, it's generally too cold for sketching(at which I'm crap anyway), it'd add a different dimension.
I don't have a lot of cash, or a darkroom,or any talent at anything whatsoever.
What would anyone suggest, and how much? ( apart from f**k off and die, we'll take that as read).

Think you need a degree of talent (and perseverance). I spent 500 nicker on a super-duper digital thang back in 2005, ended up giving it away. Got one accidentally good shot of a flock of oystercatcher birds. Just couldn't suss out how to operate the bugger properly and gave up.
Excellent pics DL!

Some of them these days (granted on expensive phones) are better than many actual cameras.
A cheapISH one I've just looked up is a Canon PowerShot SX620 HS @ £145
I realise that might still be expensive.
The higher the megapixels, the higher the price but the better the quality of the definition. That really shows up if you enlarge & print. The above is 20.2 mps, which is blooming good. My phone only has 3.2!
