Manchester City 1-0 West Ham Utd (27/02/19)
K/O 8pm.
No longer on BT Sport owing to City reaching the League Cup final..
Be just like us to go up there & get a result but as most of us don't want Liverpool to win the title..
might just be a win/win, for a change!

I’d swap Noble from snodgrass tbh he can really deliver the deadballs and has been decent in the centreAl Fisti wrote:------------------------Fabianski------------------------Would prefer Nasri on the right wing but if he still isn´t fit, start Antonio

Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
Can we not play the reserves just to really antagonise Klopp?
Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
Would appreciate that in general, but the problem could be that we are defensively too little solid against a team like City.mumbles87 wrote:

I'd like to see the same formation as against Liverpool: a defensive 4-3-3 with Hernandez working his socks off and Antonio and Anderson offering threat on the counter.
If we're still in the game then bring on Arnie and Lanzini on the hour to grab a goal. Chuck Nasri on for the last ten for good measure.

Pointless trying to beat them at their own game, you just can't, they'd put on the after burners and rip you apart, so our only option is to adjust our game to suit the opposition and it is the only option and that means, park the bus
Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
Hope, we don´t do it, cause City prefers that, and they have the indivual class to break us with their very good winger play and fast combination football.Puff Daddy wrote:Pointless trying to beat them at their own game, you just can't, they'd put on the after burners and rip you apart, so our only option is to adjust our game to suit the opposition and it is the only option and that means, park the bus
Better to play a good pressing in the midfield

Couldn’t care less about the title race. This lot bare no resemblance to the Citeh side that used to be many’s “northern team” back in the day... they became a vulgar example of everything wrong with modern football a few years back.
Would be fantastic to get a draw or a win against them, don’t care less if that assists Liverpool, don’t understand why any WHU suppporter would see a “win” from our club losing.

Can’t imagine any of their boys will want to miss the final on Sunday

So they might take it easy in order not to be injured for the cup final ?HammerMan2004 wrote:Can’t imagine any of their boys will want to miss the final on Sunday
Only trouble is that the final is this Sunday, not next

But Crystal Palace went up there and won 2-3 and Newcastle beat them 2-1 just recently , no reason why we shouldn't get a result .
Snodgrass up front on his own , his mission - close down the Manchester defence - Antonio right , Anderson left , Arnautovic in the hole behind them , Noble the midfield Maestro conducting everything behind them - result = West Ham win .

You never know, but we have to pick and choose our battles in this one. Can't just go all out like we tried to do at home as we'll just get turned over again.

4-0.
A bit less painful than normal, perhaps, because it's expected but with the open way of playing we have, I can't see anything other than a hatful for them.

Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
Back on the bench for Zabaleta, please; if we can't come close to matching City for skill, we should deploy our paciest option at FB.
I think we will suffer with both Noble and Snodgrass in the middle with Rice, because, again, they have insufficient levels of pace and stamina to last the pace against City.
A clean sheet is beyond our reach, save for unlikely circumstances.
I am relaxed about who starts up top, but imagine that our best ploy would be to give two players a half each as the focal point of our attack.
Can't see past a home win here. An away point would however allow our short unbeaten run to keep going in the right direction.

Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
Since last season their form at home is: P 33 W 29 D 2 L 2 F 110 A 25
So we're probably 10/1 to get at least a draw, about 16/1 to win.
We have enough about us to score against them - we missed a fair few chances in the home game this year and netted in both fixtures last season.
Our defending can't be even vaguely like it was last night early in the game.
I'm far from convinced that Hernandez should play and Fredericks or Zabaleta is a choice to be made at RB.
One small thing that may count in our favour is that we have 5 days between games, whilst they only have 3 and have played a cup final. Yes, they have an enormous squad, but.....

They normally score at The Etihad within the first 3 minutes. If we can keep them out that long, then by parking the bus, we have a chance. 4-6-0 is the way to go
