Re: ⚽ Cardiff City v West Ham Utd (9/3)
makes you wonder what did pelle expect against a team led by colin, you know they are going to fight dive argue and bend any rule they can to get an advantage, question your bottle and your temperament, we didn't win the battles all over the pitch, fredricks fell apart after the second goal which would have been offside if he had pushed out, or not a cross if he had defended better, after the mistake he was a different player didn't want the ball. against teams like this the first half hour we need to be compact and battle, then when space starts to open up the ball players like lanzini and Anderson show what they can do. chico and arnie both need to go in the summer but until then they are what we have unless you think carroll and perez are the answer, to me they are just a downgrade so a pointless swap, another awful spineless performance against a team who battle

Really poor performance. Just no fight. No one minds if when they go away the players give 100% but come up a bit short - but the lack of effort today was a disgrace.
Re: ⚽ Cardiff City v West Ham Utd (9/3)
A real disgrace was Hernandez diving, shame we didnt sub him straight after.
I want to win every match but that was a piss take. We are surely better than that but having seen that maybe that's all we are fit for

Fredericks didn't step up, kept the scorer onside. The Old Man of Storr wrote:Ok wasn't a great performance but Cardiff's 2nd was offside wasn't it ??

Re: ⚽ Cardiff City v West Ham Utd (9/3)
Nothing is more West Ham than the result today, that is the West Ham I have grown up with.
Forget 7th, forget the season now, we'll probably dig out the odd good performance but it really is a case of getting to the summer, getting rid of the ones we don't need, keeping and bringing in the ones we need and going from there.

Re: ⚽ Cardiff City v West Ham Utd (9/3)
they showed 3-4 replays and only showed the players in the box and based on the defenders in the box he is miles offside,Even the scorer himself is looking at the lino positive hes offside. The Old Man of Storr wrote:Ok wasn't a great performance but Cardiff's 2nd was offside wasn't it ??
They then showed a a replay of the whole pitch and Fredricks has played him onside 30 metres from where the action is

Re: ⚽ Cardiff City v West Ham Utd (9/3)
We have never been good enough for 7th in my opinion. We are simply not consistent enough within games let alone over a run of games. The only reason we are still close is because that same affliction effects many sides this season, the league lacks the grind out 1-0 of the likes of Everton and Burnley of recent years.
Our goal difference tells a storey, it is that of a team around the position we are now. Not really threatening enough in too many games, when we score we tend to get quite a few but that is something like the 12th time out of 30 (40% of matches) we have failed to score yet we have only kept about 5 clean sheets.
We are however less than one year into a “new” project and the signs are encouraging. Poor today perhaps by his standards but often when players come back from long term injuries like Lanzini has they look good for a few games, perhaps carried by adrenaline, then the true effects of the lack of game time kicks in. Same may well be the case with Nasri and his enforced absence. Thing is with Anderson, those two, Yarmolenko and Wilshere we have the sort of creativity that only Lanzini offered last year. If they are all here and fit next season we will improve.
Striker is a worry at present, it seems MP is telling the world Arnie is off by not playing him ahead of Hernandez who, if he wanted a career here, has not done enough in the recent games for me to justify a starting role as the lone striker long term. We now AC is shot and Perez the emergency 4th choice. A midfield partner for Rice, new full backs should all be addressed but getting the striker right is likely to be the biggest factor on whether we continue to improve next year.

Only really Ogbonna coming out of that with any credit. Fab was fine but wonder whether he can dive at that second not slide with his feet.
Hernandez and Fredericks both poor. Snodgrass. It great either. Pellegrini’s subs were weird too. Snodgrass and Hernandez were offering so little I’m attack that they were clearly the ones needed hooking.
Fredericks had two bursts in the first half that gave some hope, but second half he was atrocious. Think he wasn’t poor defensively all game, but really bad second half. That second goal was his fault on three occasions, with the weird tackle/clearance, beaten by Hoilett to allow the cross and then dawdling rather than pushing up.

As we have shown quite a bit this season, we are no match for anyone who is up for it.

You know your sides season is over, when you lose to a relegation threatened team, that you should be beating, and you don't really care.
Or is that just me?

Re: ⚽ Cardiff City v West Ham Utd (9/3)
To get anything from Cardiff yesterday there needed to be a collective understanding from our lot that they would be coming on to that pitch fighting for their lives. Had they lost against us they would have been 5 points adrift and with their 8 remaining fixtures including games against Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd. It really was must win and both the players and Warnock knew it.upton o'good wrote:Just no fight. We have the better 11 but did we come on to that pitch with an awareness of the desire that Cardiff would show and play with? In that regard we were both unprofessional and unprepared. I also think that this speaks to a glaring omission in our squad - A ball breaker! We have shown this season that we require a player or two who have attributes which demand consistency of performance level form the entire side - someone who is a bit scary.
We have a soft underbelly.

Maybe Warnock's insistence that it's not a must-win game was a bit of Ferguson-like psychowar?

Re: ⚽ Cardiff City v West Ham Utd (9/3)
Speaking of psychowar, I suspect Pellers may have dropped a ricket with his "think like a big team" ploy. It looked like too many players were thinking that a big team could beat Cardiff without getting out of second gear. Once they sensed there was actually a game on, you could see their confidence disappear quicker than Colin's eyebrows.
