The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

Sorry to hear your mate went Indie. Wpuld also be bappy to have a beer, if only for your mind dropping list of pubs visited.

Scored 4 on the quiz.

A mate of mine has had a lot of issues with addiction in the past, botb with drugs and other things like the gym. Hes big on routine, not good at making new friends, properly crap at banter to the point where we have to go easy on him if he gets really wound up by an innocuous ribbing about something minor like the sheer volume of facebook posts about tbe gym he makes.

After reading dans post i wonder if he too is on the autism spectrum.

^ A bloke I once knew killed himself a few weeks back, and this weekend was the anniversary of another mate hanging himself. I still see bis brotber around, and its hard not to bring him up every time - he was a proper laugh out loud life and soul of the party type.

Sorry I haven't been posting helpfully on this thread lately.
Been very stressed myself, with mum falling over again last week, going in to hospital & being f**ked about in hospital.
She came home today but that hasn't exactly helped my stress levels...

Don't worry.....have you seen the sh*t I put out?
It's a downside of internet , you can't tell the context of what people are saying.
Good news ,your Old Dear got out of hospital in one piece, in this day and age that's a result.

That describes me to a T yet I scored 12 in the Autism Test .

The advantages of having a diagnosis when you're still of school age are that you'll get help from the relative education bodies - it helps a bit when you go to further education . After that , I'm not sure .
Asperger's can be a diagnosis but it can also be a ' label ' - I understand the need to discover whether you do indeed have Asperger's as that would help give you the answers you're looking for .

Our boy has been diagnosed with Asperger's , Tourettes , ADHD , OCD - I'm guessing there's something else such as ' Pathalogical Demand Avoidance ' but I'm not sure whether it helps to go much further than Asperger's .

My boy has as many friends [ real ] as I did when I was his age [ 8 ] , he does show love and emotion , he can be quite selfish and demanding , he's happy on his xbox all day whether in company or playing on his own - he finds it easy to make friends online - he is obsesssive about Politics [ Marxism , Leninism , Communism ] but I'm guessing this stems from the fact that boys with Autism are shunned by girls - He is a very attractive lad , very handsome , better looking than me and I'm gorgeous but no girl wants to know . He does have girl friends , he's VERY likeable but that's as far as it goes . Naturally it breaks my heart .

And it does that because you're such a caring Dad, TOMoS.
It is going to be harder for your boy to get to know a girl romantically but it is no way impossible that it can happen. If a girl knows a good looking boy with no issues & a good looking boy with some difficulties, unless she's an angel, you know who she is probably going to pick. Angels are in short supply but they do exist.
It isn't fair but that is sadly the way of the world. Good people are sometimes never given a chance.
I hope your son meets someone that 'gets him'. It's good that he's at college & meeting people.
