Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leicester City: match thread (20/04)
Not sure the defence are to blame today
We gave the ball away in midfield in the build up to the second ball and Leicester are one of the best teams at scoring those type of goals with very quick transition. It was a decent through ball and a tidy finish
Also, the linesman certainly made an error for the 2nd Perez 'goal' but there is no guarantee he would have scored in 'real-time' as Schmiechel had stopped due to the whistle
What was more infuriating for me was no-one had the predatory strikers instinct to get on the end of the stream of superb crosses we put into the box, and were a little guilty of over playing at times
If we had Vardy we would have scored about 4 today, and would have won with Hernandez IMHO

You really don't like Pellers do you IB ?Ironing Board wrote:Newcastle are breathing down our necks with a negative net spend. If Rafa is available we should go all out to get him. Now he is a real manager.
I have a sneaking suspicion that we could ( hypothetical obviously!) do the quadruple with Pellers as manager and you would still find a reason to have a dig.

100% with this.Crouchend_Hammer wrote:A really enjoyable game of football between two evenly matched teams who were both going full pelt to win the game, plus the sun was shining. Can't ask for much more than that
Some of our players played really well, especially Masuaku and Antonio, and no-one was under-par. We played some lovely football at times and all we were missing was a proper goalscorer to get on the end of many very good crosses that were slung across the box. if ever a game needed Hernandez it was this one
we may only have picked up a point but it was the best we have played at home for a while

I preferred you as RM6 mate. At least trolling as an Allardyce obsessive got some good banter going.Ironing Board wrote:Newcastle are breathing down our necks with a negative net spend. If Rafa is available we should go all out to get him. Now he is a real manager.
^ This? This is just lazy. You just watched them on BT Sport and typed as they played.
They’re appalling as much of the time as we are, Rafa is just a Spanish Big Sam.
7/10. Must try harder. So a bit like Pel this season.

With a decent centre forward, we win that today by a couple of goals. Would be happy not to see Arnie in our colours ever again. Even Perez showed him up today.

Best European manager going, in my opinion, outside of Klopp and Guarduola. And we might actually be able to get him.

There was a tear up between a couple of West Ham fans outside Neighbourhood Bar in East Village after the game
No idea what it was all about as was over the road sitting on the grass but some punches were exchanged and the old bill turned up

Was Wilshire a bit shy of challenging Tielemans in midfield for the goal? All happened very quickly but felt as if he was Wilshire's 'man' and had way too much time.
Overall a decent game and enjoyable day at the Toilet Bowl today, a few sherbets in the sun certainly helps put you in the right frame of mind for a match.
Thought Anderson was incredible at times, but his inconsistency frustrates. Snodz and Antonio worked hard and stood up to their opponents physicality, Balbuena adds so much at the back and improves Ogbonna's game too, Noble had a good show too and Arfur is improving.
Shame the officials cheated us once again, I hate VAR but hate losing points like this more.

Enjoyed the day and the match.
Some good points, and some bad.
Arnie’s Performances convinced me that I hope we can convince another club to shell out the £35 Million that we could have had in January. Really poor body language, movement, and effort today, and it wasn’t about being isolated, as Perez generally made the most of what was available to him.
Anderson is a cut above, and I thought was the outstanding player on the pitch. Antonio put in his best performance in a long time, and looked like his 2016 self, and showed a real desire.

We won the game 3-2. We can tear the arse out of Pelles tactics all we want (and I’m as guilty as the next man) but we’re in the VAR age now...we were robbed.

Not yet. I thought that on BBC but they show a ‘live’ table as scores stand. They’re still a couple of points behind.Cuenca 'ammer wrote:blimey - the Barcodes could end up above us if I read the table correctly...
Thank god for that kind run towards the end of 2018, we’d be right in the brown stuff without that

Haven't seen it mentioned on here but regards to Harvey Barnes goal. I'll give eveyone one guess as to how many goals he's scored this season prior to that one

when I looked earlier they had only played 33 games and I assumed that they didn't include the one that they were playing
they now show same games (35) as us. and 2 points behind.
