What ive learned form watching this game
Lanzini looked sharp
We look nice going forward
Defense is still very bad at defending
Sanchez is one of the worst footballers i have ever seen

Consolation from this is that 2 goals came from poor touches and one from a dodgy pen and we had a clear one turned down. I make that a 2-1 win

MP is usually a pretty good judge of player. He definitely knows what KIND of player he likes. I have absolutely no idea what he sees in Sanchez. Really strange.

Wonder if there's enough money left to bring in Maripan

I came here to throw some ***** into Sanchez. Looks like there is no need as its already been done. I hope this is the one and only time I get to see him play for the Irons.
Re: West Ham United v Manchester City: Asia Trophy Match Thread
I’m still not a massive fan of his. I think a season in the Championship or League One might help him though.Supreme wrote:Grady has looked quite lively. Wonder how much game-time he will get this season

I'm just glad people are now seeing what some of us knew of him before these latest blunders. I'd rather play a broken cone in the middle of the park.Scratchy wrote:Was going to post even before he gave the ball away for that goal, Sanchez doesn't look like a footballer. I've honestly never seen him break into a jog, let alone a sprint. Just walks about, gets the ball and plays the safest pass.

There's me thinking it's a pre season friendly and absolutely the right time to be writing off players

The thing is, out backline will look different with Balbuena, Masuaku and Fab in there. Oggy will also now have to compete with Winston for the third slot. So I’m not too worried. Equally, we started with Antonio up top.
Still though, even with the signings and sales, the names that concern me are still knocking around

This is a pre season so it gets brushed away without punishment, but last season i was amazed by the amount of times City were cynical and broke up counter attacks and never got booked for them. Whenever they lose the ball they make a foul and break up play constantly. Fernandinho would have a license to make 6 or 7 key fouls before getting a card

Hoping that this was a last chance for Pellegrini to see if Sanchez can cut it after his long injury.
On this viewing, not at all. Get another CM in and offload Sanchez (loan him anywhere, who cares).

Re: West Ham United v Manchester City: Asia Trophy Match Thread
in jan last year everyone was screaming about how weak we were at fullback on both sides and didnt do anything about it
its a consistent problem that we havent addressed, and its our weak point...any oppostition manger targets us down the flanks
this isnt any kind of knee jerk, but it happens every season...we all talk about a striker, when traditionally goals scored arent a massive problem, its the number we concede
