I would be content with Wanyama too. Just hit 28, but has had a couple of years of not playing a great deal; at his most successful alongside Schneiderlein (like Rice?) at Southampton.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
I'd be happy with Medel as backup. Hugely experienced, can cover in defence too, a tough physical presence and a decent passer too, much better injury history, probably wouldn't mind just being a squad player, cardiffs best player for a large part of the season he was here, and most importantly, much better than sanchez.
Obviously I'd prefer sanson but if getting Medel on the cheap means freeing up funds for Maripan then I'd happily take him.
Wonder if we'll hit the loan market at all?

And no to wanyama... that injury history doesn't look good. I'd take him on loan with a view to buy so he can prove his fitness but I'd be wary about paying good money for him. Especially if spurs fans are saying his knees have gone.

Medel was absolute pony in the Copa America
another NO from me.......
I know u-d-c loves him but he reckons 11 Medels and we would be in the CL - or was it win the CL
finished at this level. why dump Sanchez and replace him with Medel I have no idea...

I think he would be another Song a lot of quality but will have the opportunity to show it far too rarely through his dodgy knees. Don't think we can afford that.Burnley Hammer wrote:And no to wanyama... that injury history doesn't look good. Because Sanchez is even more finished. I'm not even sure he ever started.Cuenca 'ammer wrote:why dump Sanchez and replace him with Medel I have no idea...

I think Medel is the better player and not finished just yet.

Shame we didn't go for Delph at £10m. Would've preferred him to either Medel and Wanyama, plus also homegrown/English.

I’d rather play with 10 men then buy another player from spurs ever again.

Most spurs fans would be happy to give us Wanyama for free, which tells you everything you need to know.

So you mean to tell me we need a defensive midfielder still?
Shocking news. Unheard of. No way!

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
I am not overly enthusiastic about Wanyama. So big Andy has freed up a treatment table but that it is no reason to buy a potential crock. My Saints supporting family says he was a disruptive influence when he played for them.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
fair enough...
saw several games and admittedly it was specifically against the Argies that he was the worst of all,....
I would not touch him with a barge pole.........
I honestly would rather give Cullen a go, he can't be worse than either Medel or Sanchez
