Agreed. We’re much more in need of strengthening (literally) our midfield than bringing in another striker. I’m not completely against loans right now, but we need to eventually get to a stage where we don’t need to rely on loans anymore.Burnley Hammer wrote:I'd much rather do this and then use the loan market for an additional striker.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
The contours of a plan seem to already be there – get the two Chileans in for Obiang and Ogbonna, loan a striker who can stay fit for 30 games a season, cross everything that Ben Johnson can do a job at LB, put the trotters up for the rest of the summer.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Ex has made indications that between Obiang and Sanchez the most likely to leave is Obiang. I wish it were the other way around but I think it's due to Obiang having offers and a real fee whereas no one would want Sanchez on his current wages.
Perhaps Sanchez can be the Zabaleta of midfield this year: substitute, early cup games, and clubhouse morale/great sportsmanship in training. I imagine Pellers brought him in as much for his personality as what he perhaps brought to the pitch at times that got him a permanent place in the Columbia squad.
Selling Obiang means we need AT LEAST two more midfielders unless Sanchez is to play a larger role than what I just described. Unlike the positive Pollys on here it seems clear as day to me that Cullen won't be here either in a few weeks.
Pulgar and Paulinha would be ideal...but aren't they fairly similar players? Seems to me like a one or the other type of situation unfortunately. I'm hoping we have a secret cash stash for Sanson from OM still...will have to pray heavily on that one

They are fairly similar and maybe I was being a bit greedy! But I think we’re really in need of that kind of player, and we could probably bring in both for about £15m combined.BostonHammer wrote:Pulgar and Paulinha would be ideal...but aren't they fairly similar players? Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Have to say I am much less stressed about our window now that Haller is officially a hammer. Was really worried we would go into the season without a decent striker. I still think we need 3 more players, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we need to spend big money.
Out ——> In
Obiang —> Pulgar (yes please!). Net -£2-3m
Sanchez —> promote Cullen or Coventry. Net £0-1m
Ogbonna —> Maripan. Net -£5-10m
No one —> Loan/free ST. Net wages/signing fee.
Also wouldn’t mind offloading Hernandez, bringing in someone like Brahimi on a free, and moving Antonio to backup/3rd choice striker. This isn’t a priority though.

Ha... it seems to be... but, actually its NOT.LeonRivers wrote: UdC will be pure fire tonight!
First, Pulgar played in one of the main rival team of mine, and thats why I was not really thata aware of him/havent seen that much of him...
It was only al this Copa America, that I began to see more him playing...
Second, the link comes of a chilean media site, and they lie that much as The Sun, or even more..
So... I dont know, if it is some substance behind this gossip..
Maybe Ex can bring some light on it..

Err, not reallly..VeniceHammer wrote:I would say he's a younger gary medel that offers much more offensively.
Medel can play also as a CB and its a different type of player.
Pulgar has more assists, pace and skills, too.
By the way.. Medel is in talks with Marseille, to sign for them for about 5 M Euro...
I know, many of you hate the block... but... still... a cheap and good alternative for some teams.. as you see...

If you call starting 15 games in league 1 very well.... I would see it more as being a squad player at a much lower level than west ham. would he have had as much opportunity if his naume had been putts. Not sure.

That'd do him good.bubbles1966 wrote:Boro interested in Diangana on loan.
He wont get much game time here, and at present I just dont think he's good enough at this level.

I think Boro would be a terrific loan move for Diangana. The lad is going to improve with more game time, so I hope this happens and works out for all parties involved

They might actually try and play football this season now they’ve moved on from Pulis and Karanka.Puff Daddy wrote:I think Boro would be a terrific loan move for Diangana. The lad is going to improve with more game time, so I hope this happens and works out for all parties involved

Woodgate has said as much.
Would be good to see Grady cause some real damage in the Championship.
He played very well against Birmingham in the cup I thought.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
I see Claret and Spew are at it again
Poor little dwarf man having to stick his fat little fingers into this pockets to fund Haller purchase .. poor little poor boy.
there is one glaring error in their nonsense financial analysis ..
They conveniently leave out all outstanding incoming transfer fee income ....
They don't mention the 10m quid a year we get from Betway ....
They don't mention the 20m plus we got from advance season ticket sales ....
They don't mention the expected commercial income this year from shirt sales etc.
All they do is take the worst case scenario from player purchase 'costs' and ignore other factors.
I would suggest with the Sky money we have at least another 25 - 30 m left to spend in transfer funds.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
I think a loan would be terrible and a right set back. He was getting into the squad on played well in places. He’s going to be a bit bigger and wiser and more keen to impress - sending him away now will be like a demotion.

Diangana needs games.
He won’t get many with Antonio, Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Fornals, Wilshere, and Snodgrass competing for places.
Edit: forgot Anderson also.

Plus we've culled a lot of the players wages. 10th place prize money. Extra 2500 seats for punters for the forthcoming season.

Pezza - perhaps there’s a mega out going loan interest repayment coming up or something.
