Silva counts towards the 25 man squad this season

Given I don't really watch any European football I have no idea how good any of our signings are (seen a bit of fornals  ) BUT given I was just as much in the dark Last season and how well Pellers buys worked I'm hugely impressed with the transfer business. The fact that we've done it on a modest net spend I see as a massive plus. Watching some of our rivals it seems like everton have borrowed the famous scattergun, they seem to be bidding for everyone and anyone, Manu still have lots of work to do before Friday. Very interesting window all round

We either get him back ready for the step up or let him go.
I would have thought he was at that stage now. The Cullen hokey-cokey loan deal strikes again!

Of the championship clubs I really do not want Cullen at Charlton. They are an absolute **** show in the board room and they are likely to really struggle this year. Similar to Bolton. He wont be able to show what he can do there.

I’d like to see us buy the player first so the deal is done

Then look to get rid of someone..

Sanchez first choice
Reid second
Ogbonna 3rd

Either loan or perm..

Sanchez wouldn’t be bad to not include if ness as he only has a year left on his contract so whilst it’s 4 million it’s a one off

Knight
No point leaving silva out as he under 21 anyways which I believe means he doesn’t count in the 25
Silva's 22, born in 1997, counts as overage this season.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see us do that (especially if it's for a player that Pellegrini and Hussilos have identified as needing), but £4m is a big chunk of budget to sacrifice on someone who might get on the pitch in the Milk and FA Cups if at all, not to mention the morale issues it causes for the player and possible negative impact on squad atmosphere.

I'd rather we were at least trying to get to the point where we had a deal in place for them to move on before we commit to spending on another player coming in. Otherwise we just hamstring ourselves to the tune of about 10% of our transfer budget next year (probably, completely speculating based on how much we've had this summer).

Cullen going out leaves us with a couple of homegrown overage squad spaces now, though. Maybe we should try for someone like Joe Williams or Ben Pearson?

Board room level, yes, but I think they'll do alright on the pitch. They've won the 1 game they've played so far. (Which puts them 4th currently :D obviously they won't end up there)

Signing a young Centre Back might suggest either Reid (crocked) or Ogbonna (sold) may be left out of the 25 man squad.

Ain't Bowyer there as manager? Could think of worse people to work for who's half decent at the job and knows the midfield role inside out and of course has a big connection to us. So it makes sense on that level. I do feel though if he's being loaned out yet again at his age, Pellegrini probably doesn't rate him.

York’s (sorry on phone can’t stand trying the quotes it’s poorly designed!)

Didn’t realise silva was 22

However Cullen is 23 and off to charlton by looks

Could be his spot?

Cullen would count as homegrown.

Diop, Balbuena, Ogbonna and Rice all played at CB in pre season while Reid didn’t make it past China. This seems to indicate Reid will be left out of the squad should Arcacibar cross the line. Decent cover across all positions if that’s the case.

Absolutely. Time to cut sell him not loan him out in my opinion, if he was going to make it, Pellegrini wouldn't be loaning him back to Charlton and be playing him this season. Lets face it if he can't get in the squad in front of Sanchez he isn't good enough.
