Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
My thoughts on the new CM is not to be backup to Rice or replace him, but to play alongside him in certain games where our technicality won't surpass the oppositions willingness to put a foot in/run.
Despite our numbers in CM, after our FB positions, I think it's the position most in need of an upgrade.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Something else chap ...And yet some on here would be furious if we sold for less than that.
Non-WHU so everyone can ignore me if they want, but - does anybody understand how 'image rights' can stop a transfer happening (i.e. Dybala to Spurs)? Because I really don't get that - is it to do with the player having a personal sponsor (like Adidas) and them not wanting the player pictured wearing a rival brand (like Nike)? Or something else completely?
Image rights are the amount of money they get from sponsorship that the club would normally get ... names on back of shirts, boot sponsorship deals, some club sponsorship undertakings that players do for free normally etc etc. Basically add ons to salary.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
It's usually more for the personal use of their own image in terms of getting sponsors. For example, in the recent past Napoli had a number of deals fall through for players because their owner was adamant in wanting to retain the image rights of the players. That means that the club will put the player's face on the ads they want, and any other deal made by the player with other companies has to go through the club.YorksHammer wrote: Non-WHU so everyone can ignore me if they want, but - does anybody understand how 'image rights' can stop a transfer happening (i.e. Dybala to Spurs)? Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Well im sure others know more than I but the club and a player clearly want their own rights to use imagery related to that player particularly in regards to promotion so there is always going to be discussion between Players agents and prospective new club as to where lines are drawn. If they can't agree how this should be structured within a contract then clearly no such contract can be signed. All sorts of elements can play a role in this including agreements previously signed with sponsors no doubt on occasion and will differ between players and no doubt clubs have different set views and then there is the effect it might have on other club players if those are skewed for a new import.YorksHammer wrote: Non-WHU so everyone can ignore me if they want, but - does anybody understand how 'image rights' can stop a transfer happening (i.e. Dybala to Spurs)? To be fair, many would have called Rice an out and out defender a little while ago.fjthegrey wrote: The centre forward?

From the (admittedly very few) clips I've seen of Cardoso, he does seem like he could have the awareness required of a DM.

I did think that, young, aggressive and comfortable on the ball. Certainly could be an option.pezza20 wrote:Has anyone thought to stop and think maybe the youngster we have just signed is seen as a potential Rice back up option ....

Nope - although tbf I didn’t know anything about him before he signed. Is this your personal opinion, Pezza, or rumblings that you’re getting? Intriguing if the latter.pezza20 wrote:Has anyone thought to stop and think maybe the youngster we have just signed is seen as a potential Rice back up option ....

I have had a few thoughts on the matterpezza20 wrote:Has anyone thought to stop and think maybe the youngster we have just signed is seen as a potential Rice back up option ....
I’ve thought zabs would be used possibly
However the one that keeps popping to mind is put the new defender in and play diop in rices position
He’s certainly got the abilities

To be fair mate, mid-table as a prediction, isn't exactly a crazy guess is it?
given that 6 of the top 10 places are pretty much nailed on,
