Makes sense. They'll get back any fee in shirt sales from deluded Geordies.

If the Geordies had any apprehension before about how they’d play under Missus Doubtfire, it’s now been solidified.

Good luck to him, especially now that there’s no fear of him playing for us again

His interview on Sky . . . . "I've started running outside."

Brilliant stuff.

I wish him well, but thank god he's gone.

Good luck, Andy. I don’t care if it’s an unpopular opinion, but if it’s a pay as you play, I’d rather we had him. On his day, he is the best English CF in years. And he is not all headers, his feet are amazing. Such a shame he had the injury record he did.

On the, very, rare occasions he was fit and on form he was every centre back’s nightmare to play against.

I have some fond memories of him playing for us but not many, and certainly not more good memories than watching Deano.

Good luck, Andy. I wonder how you will celebrate your first goal against us?

Thank goodness the washed up waste of space is now stealing a living elsewhere.

Take back what I said about him, the shithouse has posted a tweet with the caption 'I'm coming home' along with a video of him scoring against us when he played for Newcastle..

I'd be surprised if they get 10 games out of him.

Or that they’ll give him 10 games, based on last season for us

Fella looked broken as a footballer - against Brum & Wimbledon he looked like his legs had literally gone

Good luck to him, a great player on his day but smashed with injuries.

You know he'll go on to get fit now and when he plays against us he'll maul us... :D

Genuinely as entertaining as any other other player we've had in my lifetime; given me some great memories, including that late equaliser vs Stoke in my first game at the OS.

Underrated all-round game and unparalleled aerial ability, a true shame for football that he never managed to keep himself in full working order. Not surprising, perhaps, considering he was, after all, described by none other than Nile Ranger as 'a lunatic' and 'worse than me'.

Will go down as one of my personal cult heroes. Good luck lad, please don't score against us.

Good luck to the fella. I'm sure he would have rather spent more of his time on the pitch than the treatment table, but instead we saw mere glimpses of what might of been. I doubt Newcastle will see much more but no doubt he will score against us!!

3 memories of AC

1. Sitting in the BMU, when, iirc, under Chris Hughton's coaching, he rocked up alongside Barton and Nolan. Barton made some space down our left, Andy shrugged off the negligible challenge and, poised perfectly, nodded an inevitable goal

2. On a freebie deep on what was then the mythical Shelf, alongside my boss, Spuds STH since Moses was in sandals, I foolishly proposed to him and his sniggering family that Allardyce's Irons, with Andy up front and Maiga wide left, for some preposterous reason, were going to mash them.

For 85 minutes, Dawson totally monstered Carroll, who seemed oblivious to the concept of even space, still less ball-control, only for him to notch a consolation that the entire home end ironically cheered. God, we were awful, that day.

3. That ridiculous bicycle kick, that remains the best goal ever scored at our new ground.

He was a man of the moment, in a very literal sense. He had moments of sheer, sublime brilliance.

And 6 years, 11 months, 3 weeks and, charitably, 4 days of the absolute opposite.

He has persuaded Mike Ashley of all people to sign another contract in his favour.

Amazing stuff. Seriously amazing.
