Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 West Ham Utd (17/08/19)

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread
At the risk of being controversial, I'd start (if they are fit) with Yarmo and Antonio, maybe even Snodders.
So many times last season we were outmuscled by the likes of Burnley, Cardiff and this mob.
Sacrifice a bit of flair for muscle and hard graft. and we'll win.

The only change I'd make is Masuaku for Cresswell. I'd like to see Fornals, but not sure for whom.

Sounds pretty accurate to me. One of which will be a Murray headed goal from a poorly defended cornerStepney wrote:It's got 2-0 Brighton written all over it. They will continue their good start and we will huff and puff but not have any ideas what to do in the final 3rd. They will have two chances and take them both.

I wonder how many more of our players get kicked out of the game tomorrow.
First game Man City with 13 fouls to our 6 and now Brighton who apparently were the dirtiest team in the prem last season.

Different manager, they'll be a completely different team.codger wrote:I wonder how many more of our players get kicked out of the game tomorrow.

I think they'll start well under Potter but I still don't think they've got the quality to be anything more than relegation candidates.

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread
I was quite confident, despite our 5-0 loss and their 3-0 win, that we could get a win tomorrow - then heard that Anderson and Haller were doubts, which is a concern. I think we can still get a result though.
If Anderson is not fit then Fornals is the natural replacement with Lanzini going to the left and Antonio continuing on the right. Whilst Felipe is clearly a loss, the great thing this year is we do have depth in those positions.
Haller being out is probably more of an issue with Ajeti potentially not up to speed yet, and Hernandez not particularly well suited to the lone man, but it's not a terrible problem and much better than we've had in previous years!
I would like to see Masuaku in for Cresswell as I think Cresswell has been lacking the pace/positional awareness for a while now which keeps costing us goals in the same way.
Otherwise I think it's got to be the same team.
Looking forward to a visit to Brighton where it might not be raining or blowing a gale! What pubs will people be going to?

As FJ said, fouls are part of the game
If the other team are playing nasty then dish it back
Dicks and Bonds wouldn't have sat back and let us get kicked off the park

That is just the point. We are always in the bottom three for fouls committed.
We need to toughen up Al La Dicks and co.

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread
If Felipe and Haller are out:
Fab
Fredericks Balbuena Diop Cresswell (I think he'll opt for 'continuity' at LB, with Arthur to come on as sub)
Rice, Wilshire (assuming he's ok, if not, Snodgrass)
Fornals Lanzini Yarmelenko (I just hope he's been drilling them all week on tracking back and not giving the ball away)
Antonio (I can't see him starting with Hernandez, but I'm sure he'll figure at some point)
If it was BFS then I think he'd start with Zabaleta and Snodgrass but that would be an over-reaction to last week.

Have Anderson and Haller officially been ruled out?

Not yet. Just that they are 'being assessed.'S-H wrote:Have Anderson and Haller officially been ruled out?

It's a bluff!
Both will start, I reckon.
I'm going back to my original 0-7 to the Hammers!!

That's what I'm holding out hope for. I'm in denial. What injuries?
I like it. I'll go with 3-1.S-H wrote: I'm going back to my original 0-7 to the Hammers!!

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread
Powder puffs. 2-0 Brighton and we get bullied out of it yet again by this kind of side. They are playing to their strengths just as we have in the past under Fatty. We can't moan about it we need to toughen up or Pellers has to come up with a plan to counter this style of football.
We can't judge on last week it's pretty much irrelevant which team 3/4 of this league put out against City they are miles ahead. Tomorrow however is a different matter. We should have a plan for this by now, surely not another repeat.

I echo what a lot have said before, I'm not hugely confident. If we can't get the win, I'd love an exciting 3-3. I just don't want to be bored/frustrated like last year, few beers in the sunshine and a few songs

Don't think you have much chance of that, looks miserable tomorrow.Carlton'sGoal wrote:I echo what a lot have said before, I'm not hugely confident. If we can't get the win, I'd love an exciting 3-3. I just don't want to be bored/frustrated like last year, few beers in the sunshine and a few songs
