I'm still scarred from the experience of being toasted in the sun under Uncle Avram, and Young mocking us.
That needs to be put to bed.
Need a 0-3. Could get anything...

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: Match Thread
They've had a mixed start Villa. Played well against Tottenham despite losing the game in the last 15-20 mins, then lost to Bournemouth at home, then beat Everton at home, then lost to Palace away.
We should be beating these, but no doubt they'll make it a physical game. We should be confident off the back of two good wins and if we play anything like we did against Norwich we should have too much for them.

Can I just say that I now have no idea how this match will go, as there is too much utter positivity on board this board.

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: Match Thread
I imagine that their coach will take the view that, if they go all gung-ho and attack us, we have too much quality on the counter-attack. I'm not saying he would be happy with a draw, but one of the main things that he will concentrate on will be keeping quiet Haller, Anderson and Yarmolenko.
As such, this is a game for the two midfields to duke it out.
We did reasonably well restricting Norwich goal-scoring opportunity last weekend, but there was that 'charmed life' moment when Cantwell somehow contrived to miss 2 yards out. He was unmarked...
So, I'm expecting a score draw, or, with a degree of hope, further progress in what is already a respectable run of away results, and a 2 or 3-1 victory.
The key challenge is for Rice, to keep Grealish quiet. Quite an absorbing contest.

Traditionally this is the kind of game where the wheels would fall off following a decent mini-run, such as that WHU have recently enjoyed.
Am however cautiously optimistic.

And that is why I am nervous about the game. The last time I was confident of a win was the home game against Cardiff last season.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 9:11 am I presume you're all aware of what normally happens when everyone predicts a comfortable west ham win on the match thread?

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: Match Thread
need to keep Wesley quiet as he likes to bring others into the game like haller does for us. grealish and McGinn in midfield will cause us a few problems and it will mean Anderson and yarmolenko need to get back and defend well at times. we should win but we are west ham so any result possible but I am going for a good win.y
Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: Match Thread
Villa will be bang up for this and we will need to work very hard in the first ten minutes much like Norwich. We should have to much for them, but we will have to earn the right to play our football.

First game of the season if my memory serves me right, a shocking performance by us that day.Albie Beck wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 11:36 am I'm still scarred from the experience of being toasted in the sun under Uncle Avram, and Young mocking us.
