Would you sell Declan Rice for £90m?

Does exactly what it says on the tin - the forum for football-related discussion.

Would you sell Declan Rice for £90m?

Post by Alan Pardew's Dad » Mon Sep 09, 2019 11:00 pm

Paper talk (The Star!) has suggested Declan could be off for £90m in January https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/footb ... b-19916297

Would you be willing to see him go for such a huge fee?

Every player has their price and for that sum, I’d have to say yes. God only knows how we could replace him though.

Yes.

Provided that money was reinvested in the team.

Well, besides being excellent, a vital player for us and our first England player for years, he's the closest thing we have to a "new" Mark Noble and he'll be yet another one of our homegrown contingent gone. And we'd struggle to replace him. Selling him at any price would be more catastrophic than when we sold Rio imo. I would feel very detached from the club.

We’d still have Carlos Sanchez it’ll be fine

No. I go to watch players like Rice play, not to see Sullivan sitting there with £90 million in his pocket.

ONLY if he wanted to go.

Would much prefer he stayed as you don’t push on by selling your best players. The only consolation if he went under the current management team is their ability to identify good players at good value. They could stretch 90 mil along way if it was invested back into the team.

I'd want another 3 yrs out of him before selling him. If he continues his current progress he'll be worth more than £90m!

That's a ridiculous price, one that no club in the world would turn down.

Personally I'd take £20.1m

He won't go in January as a) no one will pay that in January and b) he won't want to jeopardise his Euro 2020 chances by going somewhere and not playing

However, he will go at some point soon. Probably after the Euros next summer.

What we get for for him and how it will be reinvested will be key in determining whether we can really push on or not

The only people that would want to sell him are the owners and for that reason I’d keep him. He’s grown into this team and becoming an integral part. It’s going to be really sad if we start dismantling it at the first signs of it becoming a decent unit. In fact delete this thread for god sake- talk of selling your best young players is never going to end well. **** off sullivan

I wouldn't mind betting, that his future departure might coincide with the dildos selling the club, pocket the Rice cash, make a tidy profit on the club, and Sullivan can ride his Shetland pony into the sunset, whilst Gold gets lost in a cupboard at the Olympic Stadium.

Who is going to buy him ?

At the moment only Man Utd or Tottenham need him , Manchester City have money to burn but don't really need him , we're trying to build a team worthy of a Top 6 Challenge and if you sell its best young player then you end up going backwards again .

£90m wouldn't get re-invested in the Club .

NO. you don't sell your best players. first rice then Anderson etc. we have sold our assets before this is the chance to do something. a couple of quality players in the summer at CM, CB and fullback and we are good to challenge for something for a few seasons. start selling and what is the point of the move etc.

Rice will be our captain next season so that will keep him for a few seasons but if we don't progress he and others will be off.

He'll be worth 150 million in another two years. Busquets will need replacing soon.
