Not just any players playing out of position: one's a geriatric and the other a virtual footballing foetus.
And it's still a hard decision.

wonder if we can tempt Dicks back down here for a game!

Johnson will be playing for the u23 on Friday so wont make the squad I would suspect.
cresswell will start as he is the recognised LB . zaba is a RB and too slow now to start games. a last 20 mins he is ok.
the only player who played last night likely to start is rashford but he may be on the bench for martial. Pogba big jessie etc will all be back. this is a tough game for us as the balance is tipping in our favour due to their poor start which sees them "only" 4th. I know we are level on points with them. we need to win this type of game to give us the big team mentality and confidence pelle talks about. we blew our chance for 3rd at villa but at least played ok and better with 10 men. we have an excuse for that one and the positives are we looked more likely to win and kept going right until the end. in the past west ham teams were out of gas around 70 mins. so the fitness is improving.
now we have to deliver.
the team I expect pelle to select and beat man utd is
fabianski
fredericks diop ogbonna cresswell
noble rice snodgrass
lanzini haller anderson
snodgrass to come in and add some workrate and tackles. also delivers the best corners and freekicks after mondays horror show !
subs bench roberto zabaleta balbuena wilshere fornals yarmolenko ajeti
Lets hope the fans are up for it and the place is roicking. full on support for all players including cressie. Lets do these slags !

Amazing how the stock of Cresswell has fallen when we speak of players playing out of position to cover Arthur. He hasn't been the same since that injury however, i would start him. I don't think he is that bad.... (famous last words).
Was going to say exactly the same, if Zabaleta starts over a fit Cresswell at LB then you'd have to say the Cress would be completely finished with us.

Charlie Nicholas reckons we are going to win 2-1 and I agree with him except I think it will be 3-1

No pogba, martial or shaw.
Rashford played full match. No excuses. We must turn up.
Left back will be our weakness

I am gonna go to the pub to watch this, probably in the Charlton area. No doubt wherever I go there will be a sea of plastic mancs around. I have a busy fun weekend planned. Hopefully it won't be ruined by the football. COYI

Given the injury news for them, we have to win this one now. I'll actually be disappointed with a draw.

It is set up perfectly for us to win this.
Cue 1-0 loss with a dodgy VAR in their favour.

while we have every reason to be confident, my biggest concern is their pace...they are a team with loads of pace, and by all accounts have missed a hatful of chances so far this season
pace is where teams can really get to us, would also be sodes law that everything comes together for them this weekend
need to stamp our authority, control the midfield, but not be too gung ho

"The best performances come from players when they have competition behind them. Aaron Cresswell wasn't playing because Arthur was playing well but now he has the chance to show his ability." - Manuel Pellegrini

As long as it's a late consolation goal to make it 3-1 to us, that's perfectly fine!

Scored the penalty against Leicester , mate and got off a shot that hit the bar [ I think ] .
Thing is , apart from the bloke they signed from Swansea , Ryan I think his name is they haven't been creating that many chances , that said they're Manchester United and most teams will be getting 10 men behind the ball whenever they've played them .
They've got players that run at you at speed looking for fouls at the edge of the area or inside it but chances created aren't good .

Our chances are winning have decreased with Shaw's absence
However Im quite pleased about the other two though I would have welcomed a reprise of Mark Noble / Pogba throat incident
