Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread
West Ham United, with fast midfielders and fullbacks, we are now a decent counter attacking team.
Manchester United, with fast, young players are set up to be a decent counter attacking team.
This could be a good game of football

I hope we don't under estimate them. they are still 5th and beat a good Leicester team last week when written off. we have to have more energy and quicker attacks than Monday night.
lanzini being a doubt is a worry but I expect him to start. fornals is next in line for me. wilshere is too slow for this game.
ben Johnson on the bench is interesting as it could mean zaba dropping from it.
I would put snodgrass in the midfield for set piece delivery and his workrate. If not then fornals in.
fab
fredericks diop ogbonna cresswell
noble rice Snodgrass
lanzini haller Anderson
subs roberto johnson balbuena wilshere fornals yarmolenko ajeti
2-0 hammers haller x 2

I'm not optimistic, I think we missed a chance at Villa, Bournemouth took theirs and went third. I know it's early but for some reason that performance was a massive disappointment. Still missing Antonio.

And if we take our chance tomorrow afternoon, we'll go back above Bournemouth.

Disappointed about Lanzini
When a player hasn’t a ‘small’ problem they always seem to miss the match (and usually more).
With him and Masuaku our I’m a lot less confident about this game than I was this time last week.
Bit of an odd game to play against Man Utd - most of my lifetime it’s been a case of heart hoping for something against them and head expecting a loss. If I look at the potential teams for tomorrow my head almost expects a win but my heart has a bad (West Ham usually don’t deliver when you expect them to) feeling about the high expectations going into the game.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread
is lanzini out or is pelle playing mind games with his old foes ?
I expect manu to play and be the MOTM.
I do think we need snoddy in the middle to provide some extra workrate . Also he seems the only one who can deliver a decent set piece at the moment.
no more stupid freekicks just curl in a fast paced one and haller will deliver !
no more tippy tappy at a slow pace. hard and fast west ham and the goals will come !
cresswell needs to remember he can play fullback again. as pelle has said its his chance lets hope he takes it.

I’d leave Snoddy on the bench and bring him on if we need to get in their faces. He’s not quite got the quality to start this one.
Hoping Cresswell’s going to have a solid game. He’s not nearly as poor as some are suggesting - I really don’t think he’s a weak link for us.
If Lanzini is out, then this may well be Fornal’s chance to step up. I’d love to see it - the glimpses so far suggest to me a good player who just needs to adjust to our league. Patience needed.
I’m predicting a nervy 1-0 to us.

Pellegrini doesn’t do mind games.hammerman11 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 9:17 am is lanzini out or is pelle playing mind games with his old foes ?
Lanzini gets assessed today anyway so I’m sure we’ll find out soon.
Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread
I’d bring Johnson in over Cresswell. He’s got far more pace and he’s proven he can handle big occasions (Man City away). I’d also drop Yarma, and replace him with Fornals or Wilshere, although both might end up playing if Lanzini is injured.
It’ll be interesting to see how many of Man U’s players are out - Pogba sat out midweek and James has a knock apparently - but I do think we have enough to beat them regardless. Haller v Maguire in the air should be a decent watch.
2-1 to us.

Nervous about this one... a bit too much optimism and expectation on here and we all know how that ends up.
Really hope i'm wrong and, in my best Kevin Keegan voice, I'd love it if we were to beat them again.

I'm guessing that's Phil Thompson? Could be anyone on sky sports tbf
I thought we played well on Monday and expect us to have more space against a team willing to attack more than Villa. They played on Thursday so hopefully the extra couple of days will give us an edge. I hate them.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread
will be interested in the man utd team and wonder whether Pogba shaw and martial might make it ? also only rashford played on Thursday night so no advantage to us. they are not like wolves and have a big squad.
Tough match ahead but if we start well and fast and fully committed we will win.
IF lanzini is out then its a choice of fornals or snoddy
we need cresswell to have a good game and I hope the fans fully support him. he was good once !
haller needs a few good chances to be created as feeding off scraps against villa. feed him and he will score.
2-0 hammers win for me with haller with both.

Got PMT but stayed at parents house last night and Mum is currently knocking up the Full Montgomery for breakfast so that will settle me. First trip down for me and hoping for a good performance. If we do that, we'll win I'm sure, anything less then who knows.
