Classy guard of honour for Trez. What a player he was at his peak. Amazing.

Special words of praise for Chef, could have been in trouble yesterday if he hadn't stuck around in both innings, oh how England could have done with some application like that instead of Jason Roy slashing around at everything in sight.

Just enjoy it Claw, it will go wrong soon :D

If they had one more day left, Somerset batted for a bit and then put us in, what a game we would have had!!! Shame we did not get to see it, but thems the breaks.

What a year for cricket, been sensational & loved it.

Yes, it might have gone differently had the weather held out for the full 4 days. Definitely questions would have been asked about the pitch though.

He has said that he wants to concentrate on 20/20. He is 34. Can't blame him for maximising his income in the time he has left.

Essex have won all of their eight titles in the last forty years, and according to ESPN CricInfo, no other county has won more championships in that time.

Essex are pretty much what West Ham used to be all about, home grown players plus a few stars shame the way football has evolved has prevented the continuance

Somerset docked 24 points for poor pitch
Somerset have been docked 24 points after being found guilty of preparing a "poor" pitch for last season's County Championship decider against Essex.

A hearing at Lord's found the wicket prepared for the September match had "excessive unevenness of bounce".

The points deduction will take effect in the 2020 Championship season, but 12 points are suspended for two years.

Somerset have 14 days to appeal against the decision by the England and Wales Cricket Board commission.

^^^^^

The ironic thing is John, it benefited Essex much more than Somerset.

It didn't, Essex won because it rained almost non-stop for 3 days.

No rain and Somerset probably win on that pitch with their 3 twirlers.

A year on the same again gets underway at Lords in a one off day 5 game.

Essex win the toss and bowl. 12-1 with an early wicket.

Criminal this is not on TV (there is a jerky webstream on the BBC)
