Playing complete Devil's Advocate here, Ace, as I agree with you, but that was one season - his other two top flight Spanish seasons he got 2 and 3.

He wouldn't be the first player to have had one outstanding (statistical) season - although I think he was far more key to Villarreal than those numbers suggest.

This thread will go the same way as Anderson’s.

Given his current age, he must only have been 19-20 years old for one of those seasons, so I think it's best to give him the benefit of the doubt there given "kids" like Diangana and Cullen are currently 21 and 23 respectively. Last season admittedly wasn't a productive one for him.

Give the kid a chance, he's come into the fastest and most physical league in the world, he's very young and getting limited game time so will continue to struggle to make the impact so many seem to be calling for.

Be patient, he will deliver!

Not casting aspersions, but apparently a popular team bonding game is to play “pin the tail on the Fornals...”

If Anderson doesn’t sort himself out soon, his thread will do a complete turn.

24 p&l games without a goal and counting for him.

On Fornals his form is very worrying, he’s literally showing absolutely nothing in terms of promise.

Fornals looks a little out of his depth. However, I got it wrong with Anderson, so I'm hoping he can turn it around sooner rather than later.

however Anderson seems to have gone off the boil lately - so I wonder now if the goal scoring creative Anderson was the norm, or this is.

very frustrating to say the least. didn't watch today but the comments on here and the beeb's review doesn't paint a rosy picture.

Sure there is a player in there.

Big question around whether he should have been a priority though. We don’t know whether the intention was to bring in another player or he was seen as the final part of the midfield jigsaw. Lots assuming the later but I do wonder if it was the former and we got less than we wanted for our sales plus ended up paying more for Haller than expected.

Four touch Fornals. Needs to get up to speed of the Premier League if he’s going to be a success for us.

I'd like to see him dropped in alongside Rice and let him try and get on the ball and get used to the pace of the Prem. He's chucked in, then dropped, then back in for 10 etc. Lanzini has played in this league for years and he's looking awful, so this lad doesn't stand a chance. I think technically, he's better than any of our midfield, he's just shot of confidence and playing in a poor team.

I agree. He may have been poo today but he doesn't hide, tries stuff (even if not good) and seems to put the effort in. More than most of our team.

I don’t see what he’s bringing to the team. He doesn’t have a place in my front six.

Today a lot of talented players in Anderson, Lanzini and Rice played poorly. I’m not convinced Fornals played below himself.

He seems much slower than he appeared in the u21 tournament and from youtube clips.

That is exposed in our team (which lacks pace) than it may be in other teams surrounded by quicker players.

For all the coating that Lanzini is taking I still think he’s the better player.

Anderson is okay - but he's nowhere near £45m worth.

Fornals? He's been awful so far.

I keep saying this, but Lanzini, Anderson, Fornals, Wilshere and to an extent Noble are one player.

Is Pelle’s wife a small, tidy but unimposing bird?
