Everton had conceded 7 in their last 3 home games, with 2 defeats and a late squeak past Wolves. We should’ve been turning up and piling the pressure on a manager who may have been sacked had they not won today, but we turn up with players who think they are performing ballet...so much tip toeing around and weakness it was a shambles. Anderson wasn’t performing well but he was showing a lot more than Lanzini and Fornals and shouldn’t have been the one to come off.Ironing Board wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 2:36 pm Of course Goodison is a hard place to go, but that was a damp squib of a performance. There was a real lack of fight from the players.

Sieved goals for fun last season at times...and our manager did nothing about it and spent 23 million on another lightweight midfielder who so far has made all our lightweight midfielders look like Papa Diop.

Lets face it, we all knew this would happen didnt we ? I saw it a mile off, even the crap performance. Why is it we never sign a solid , no nonsense midfield player with a bit of meat on his bones ? You need this sort of player on difficult away days where you have to fight and scrap ?

You don't need to control the ball though to initiate crosses, that's the point of it as a tactic, it's the most basic and generally ineffective form of attack. However when you're playing a team that has lost 4 on the spin, is low on confidence and can't defend a cross to save it's life and you have a bloody big unit of a forward that is good in the air...to not exploit that is underchuffing unacceptable.

Not sure what to say after that to be honest.
There just seems to be absolutely no improvement on last season. We continue to make the same errors and display the same drab performances in what was perceived as a “transitional” season. There are no excuses for that this time round.

Very poor performance but I cannot agree on a “very poor start” to the season.
First away defeat of the season at a ground we traditionally do poorly at.
Games like today highlight how much the option of Antonio is missed (as did last week but for different reasons, then we played in front of a compact Palace and lacked his power to “rough them up a bit”, today we did not play at all but did not have the option of a ball over the top to turn Everton). Fornals looks totally out of his depth with the pace and physicality of the game, Lanzini had another poor game whilst Anderson has still to find the form of last season. If 2 of the 3 behind Haller are off the boil we will struggle, all 3 and it is hopeless.
If we simply invite the opposition onto our midfield and back 4 then they will make mistakes and the opponents will score. MP wants ball retention, passing options etc, far too often today players could not control the ball and the player in possession had nothing but a poor passing option ahead because of a disinterested lack of movement.

It took a 2-0 defeat today to realise that?Pob! wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 2:43 pm We are not as good as we think we are..
Been awful for the last 4 games, there is no difference between this side and the team from last year.
We will finish 10th-15th the dildo brothers and Queen Karren will take their money and the same will happen over and over again..
This mob are happy to keep taking the EPL prize money so long as we survive..
After 52 years I'm losing interest, No Home No Identity **** Football the whole thing is a ****ing joke..
What you have said has been the case for quite some time now.

Very odd interview from Pellers.
Seemed to accept that it was ok to lose today because Everton worked harder because they had to win.
We will never be anything but a bottom side club with that attitude.

What a terrible attitude from the manager , if he thinks teams can roll us over with a better determination and attitude and we accept that then he is a ****

That player should be Rice. Alas the boy is too nice. And has been lousy for a few weeks now. Needs a spell out of the firing line.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 2:46 pmWhy is it we never sign a solid , no nonsense midfield player with a bit of meat on his bones ? That was rubbish.
We got what we deserved from that. Far too many off the pace today. Without Diop and Rice it would have been a cricket score.
I think teams have worked out how to defend against us. Likewise, we’re not good enough at the other end.
Goodison crowd were very quiet today.

It's been a long time since I've seen a game where we had no redeemable qualities, even our throw-ins were poor. Why do Cresswell, Fredericks and Masuakau take so long to take the throw-in. Why haven't we taken advantage of quick throw-ins to players moving into position? By the end of today's game, Masuaku was just forcing every throw-in in Haller's direction regardless.
Throw-ins should be an opportunity find an West Ham shirt that's in a half-a-yard of space so we can cycle the ball quickly, instead we take 5-8 secs only to force a throw-in to player that's marked and pressured.

I thought we looked ok at times , rode our luck a bit , Everton got away with a lot of niggly fouls , body checks , time wasting and conning the Ref [ Richarlison mostly ] - with a bit of luck Ogbonna might have scored - ok it would have been undeserved - we looked tired when the second goal went in . We're lacking a game-changer .
Re-group and win the next one .
