thing is though (Aurier was it ?) had possession of the ball, was swinging his leg to clear the ball and Mane nipped in - his leg was already in motion how is he a) supposed to stop the swing and b) he wasn't even looking at Mane at all.
in the NFL - incidental contact ?
And, without shooting down my own post, Mane (& probably others) very much has previous for 'winning' exactly that sort of penalty.
I will shout all day long, if it looks like the defender had absolutely no intention of making the foul, I don't see that it's fair to give the penalty.
How or why is it fair that you should be penalised for an accident? (I realise that people often are).
It's completely different to a deliberate foul or hand ball, imo.
I grant you, the difficulty is very much, separating the two.
Mane (& others) know this & have become REALLY skilled at taking advantage of that. I think it's professional cheating & an ugly part of the game.
I haven't seen today's incident yet, so am not really commenting on that, but if Cuenca's analysis is correct, it sounds like a con.
Again, completely different from what Lanzini got punished for, the other season. C&B specs on, of course..
