Mike Butler in The Guardian reckons we should be sticking Stretch's boy in goal for this one . . . My head says I haven't got a scooby if it's worth a punt on him, my heart says if he's got 1% of what our favourite-ever scouser had we should do it. The crowd would be behind him.

I've read that and its hard to argue against it. Didnt realise Alvin's son has over 300 League appearances under his belt, that and he should be better able to deal with Burnley's inevitable aerial bombardment convinces me we should hand him the gloves tomorrowrichneal wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 4:54 am Mike Butler in The Guardian reckons we should be sticking Stretch's boy in goal for this one . . . Indeed.. he really couldn't do any worse could he? Would expect Dyce to have Barnes all over Roberto for every set piece. Martin could atleast hold his own in that department, being used to the lower leagues.
Nothing to lose.

Absolutely, Martin will have been used to all the snidy, standing on the keeper's foot, elbows in the ribs, shoves in the back at corners, blocking off of his view of the flight of the ball in and all the other things and tricks they use in League 1 and they do, believe me, which ref's do not always see. Its not all innocence in that league, not by a long chalk, it really isn't but he will have seen it all and know how to combat it

bit early for the beers 3-1 win !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pelle will pick Roberto for this as it will support his player. if he drops him then he is finished at west ham.
personally martin cant be worse than flapper can he ?
can only see a big defeat looming for this one. barnes and wood will destroy us in the air. ogbonna must come in to try and deal with the bombardment.
shelve has told the league how to deal with west ham so expect dyche to do the same. we need pace at fullback to give us a chance .
last game before yet another international break but this one could aid us. spurs next after it and we will at least be up for it I hope .
4-0 defeat and twitter and kumb in meltdown as pressure mounts on £8m pound man Pellegrini !
No idea what he will pick but he could try this with masuaka in front of cresswell to provide cover and yarmolenko up top with haller ?
Roberto
fredericks diop ogbonna cresswell
Anderson rice Snodgrass masuaka
yarmolenko haller
subs martin Balbuena zabaleta noble lanzini fornals ajeti
nailed on defeat 4-0 to burnley as we sink lower !

Just filing in my super6 predictions and i'm not sure how many goals we will lose by.
I think I am going to go for an optimistic 2-0 defeat.

In fairness I could see us scoring one. Either score first then completely lose concentration and get destroyed or in the last 2/3 minutes as their whole team are already mentally in the bar celebrating the easiest win they've had this year.

Re: ⚽ Burnley FC v West Ham United: Match thread (09/11)
I think Pellegrini would actually be doing well to take Roberto out of the team here, given there are people already calling Roberto 'flapper' based on one notable error. The crowd starts getting on his back and he is absolutely buggered as a keeper, and if we really think Burnley are going to be tossing the ball into the box to test him then taking him out and giving him a bit of protection is good man management. Plus, I think Martin might be better on that front given his history.
Roberto already has more Premier League saves to his name than Fabianski, despite having made two less appearances. We'd have been 5 or 6 down against Newcastle without him, he made three stops against Bournemouth to preserve the draw, if I remember rightly, stopped the Everton game being a 4-0 loss. His shot stopping is strong, his command of the box is poor - not unlike Adrian, to be honest.

This is my first post in 13 years.
Burnley 2 West Ham Utd. 4
This will give us that old feeling of having turned the corner. Found our confidence. We will then lose our next five games.

You’ve said 3-0 every other day this week what’s changed?

Those calling for Martin, has anyone actually seen him play? I saw him once on telly last season, and he let in an absolute howler

Don't be ridiculous... It's the "can't be any worse" form of selection that is popular with the hand-wringy doom merchants.

It doesn't help the keeper when he doesn't have a settled back 4 in front of him, Masuaku and Cresswell have rotated all season, now Fredericks and Zabaleta have too, Diop has been the only mainstay but he's had both Balbuena and Ogbonna rotated alongside him, personally if all are fit I think we need to play Masuaku, Diop, Ogbonna and Fredericks at the back.

Burnley were poor last weekend. They will beat us comfortably 2 or 3 -0.
