One of the other clips showed him smiling, hug Cresswell and then raising two clenched fists in celebration. Thought he played alright but I’m basing that on him having a more defensive detail of shutting down Jorginho. He didn’t look happy being subbed though.

yeah and there''s loads on here who came up with the very same solution and I would guar-an-damn-tee they don't earn 7M between the whole load of them.....

Marting just let something slip on his BBC post match interview. He said he "Hadn't been able to eat for two days", so when did he know he'd be playing?

Great pic Johnny....

David 'gets it'. He understands the privilege of being a pro. A West Ham pro!

From Accrington Stanley to Anfield, Tranmere to Derby, clean sheet at the Bridge (on debut) for the Hammers.

Somebody make a film!

Pellegrini revealed team at 1pm today - but DM must've had some idea as would've been heavily involved in first team training all week.

A good game from many of our side.... Noble, Cress, Antonio, Martin, Fornals, Ogbonna, Snodgrass.

Much more improvement on the defensive department.

My MoftM Rice and specially Balbuena.

Superb from everyone today. The set up of the team was much better with 2 runners on the wings and everyone looked properly fired up. It's the managers and captains job to make sure that happens again in the next game.

Antonio deserves a special mention. Absolutely superb.

It was his positioning, a large part of a keepers skill, I thought his positioning was pretty good, something Roberto is very bad at.

Can't be anything but happy for Martin.

As for the game itself, I thought Pellegrini made the right call playing with 2 banks of 4 to pack the midfield so that we don't get overrun in the critical area. The thing was that even with the 2 banks, we weren't dropping deep(except for the last 10 mins), we still had a high line. The extra bodies in the middle really help slow down their attacks.

The other key decision from Pellers was to have Anderson play a free role just behind Antonio. It forced us to play through the middle rather than trying shovel to the wings under pressure. It also gave us someone to link the midfield to the forward areas - which was something we have been missing over the last few weeks(an absolute disconnect between the back and the front).

All in all, happy with the effort put in. Let's get this season back on track.

It just goes to show that if the team applies themselves in the right way results come.

we weren't miles better creating chances but everyone put a shift in and that translates to a decent result.

It makes a huge difference having a keeper who at least acts like a keeper though doesn't it ... he looked assured and commanded his area well, unlike the other knobjockey. It also tells me that Roberto had at least 2 games more than he should have had.

Great result but I want to see some consistency now with another similar performance against Wolves.

David Martin, what a hero...

Just him playing instead of Roberto made us look more confident.

wonderful and woeful aren't we!?

personally i think we won that because chelsea let us in, they were far too open and we suddenly remember what it was like to be able to move the ball forward into space, giving us confidence. Balbuena had a cracker, their crossing was abysmal, we had some new energy up top.. i still don't think this is our best side or formation but SO GOOD TO GET 3 POINTS!

Very happy for the Martin family,. it'd be rude to drop him for the Wolves game wouldn't it.. (even though i really wanted to see the young lad in the sticks today)

Win at Wolves and all is forgiven

Ogbonna outstanding and Man of the match for me. Declan made two or three lung busting runs down the left overtaking Anderson and Arfur for the last one
Martin looked confident and was well protected after a slightly concerning defensive start but we sorted it out after 10 mins.
The subs were spot on from Pellegrini today .
Energy and fight it is all you can ask and the rest follows , well done one and all .
