Pelligrini was doomed to fail from day one, as will be whoever takes over.

The owners are the owners this rut is because of the manager and the manager only he kept picking roberto, he refuses to revert to 352 when it’s glaringly obvious that’s the way to play because of the GK situation. This team on paper is top 10 minimum he isn’t getting the best out of his players

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
For a multitude of reasons, Pelle has to go now. We’re in a relegation dog fight and he is not the man to lead any sort of charge. We need a motivator.
Underinvestment or not, good squad or not, whatever your opinion is, the guy is flawed. Some of his tactical errors have been glaringly obvious.
Sometimes you need to take a step backwards to go forwards again... that step back needs to be Big Sam or David Moyes in my opinion - as much as it pains me to say. They both know the club and have relationships with key members of the squad (Oggy, Cresswell, Nobes). They’d also be taking over a squad with a lot more talent than they had the luxury of working with previously.
It’s time to pull the trigger. Sorry Pelle, but it just hasn’t worked.

Regardless of the fact that our owners aren't doing us any favours, on paper this squad should be doing better than it is, look at Sheffield United, have they spent much money? Is their squad better than ours? Pellegrini should be doing better with this team than he is, other managers would do, Pellegrini is out of ideas and its shows, as a decent man he should admit he gave it his best and simply walk away before things get even more messy.

Doesn't quite work when you need to make that step back every two years though..PlaistowIron wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 8:09 am

Until the owners go, we will remain on this endless loop..

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
The owners may not have done enough (as usual to push on) but they’ve given Pellegrini far more than he needs to not be 1 point above the relegation zone after 16 games in a season where we haven’t had our usual injury nightmare yet.
The owners can’t be blamed for everything, most on this site seemed overwhelmingly happy with his appointment (which was far from a cheap one).
Many on here were saying he was our best buy in the summer of 2018 at a time when many of our signings that summer were considered a success.
I’m not an apologist for the board but there seems to be a lot of rewriting history on in terms of how people felt about Pelligrini’s appointment.

How the hell is it possible to reanimate such a catastrophic opponent and loose that game???!!!
That was the worst defeat this season, cause we have played against the worst team i´ve ever seen in London Stadium!!!
Arsenal not even had Championship level till the equalizier - then i switched off the TV!!
Biggest shame ever!!
f*** OFF PELLEGRINI YOU USELESS RETIREE!!!
SACK HIM!!!!

Their behaviour goes back even further than that - with hindsight the way they treated Zola during his one season under them laid a template for everything that’s followed - absolutely incredible now looking back that not only was it accepted despite being our first experience of them as owners, but that they’ve then got away with the same magic trick under 4 other managers (Moyes got the full 2 year treatment after 1 month)

It's the season of good will, so let's allow Southampton, to penetrate us multiple times from behind, without lubrication, get a morale boosting three points on the board, and then sack him.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
I'm not having this thing that our squad is top 10 material.
Last night we had David Martin in goal. A bang average right back, a £4m centre half partnered with a lad we all assumed wouldn't be first choice now. Cresswell should have been properly replaced last year.
Then midfield we have Snodgrass and Noble who wouldn't look out of place in the Championship. If they were playing for Stoke you wouldn't bat an eyelid. A 20 year kid who is still learning the game, a young lad trying to get adjusted to the league and then our star man who has 1 goal in his last 30 games.
Up top we had a winger who has 7 in his last 40.

Sullivan's probably waiting for us to drop into the relegation zone, which we will do if we lost to Soton and Villa pick up points.
Noted the other clubs doing crap have got shot of their failing managers before the busy Christmas period, but no West Ham. Oh no. We like to wait until it's almost too late.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
Hope the owners do not put us through that type of farce at the weekend again! it was a disgrace, what is wrong with Frederick? one goal in 2019! does he ever run as he did at first, no wonder it felt as if it was an Arsenal home match from their fans!
