Irons Supporting Foodbanks
A reminder that our first foodbank collection will take place next Saturday, starting at 2.30pm before the Leicester game. We'll be set up next to the Park Information Centre just after Endeavour Square, on the way in to the LS from Stratford Station / Westfield Shopping City. We're collecting for Newham Foodbank in Beckton. LS185 have given us this game to run as a trial and if this goes ok then we get the green light to collect before every first team game for as long as we are needed. If anyone is going to the Supporters Club AGM at the Last Drop at 12, I'll be there to pick up any donations.
The items that the foodbank need urgently are UHT milk, custard powder, tinned tomatoes, tinned fish/meat, cereals and biscuits.
If you are coming to the game please slip a tin in your pocket on the way in and help the Newham community. We'll have a foodbank banner up at the site and we'll be wearing the fetching hi-vis jackets. A couple of staff from the foodbank will be with us to chat with. We've had some great positive press coverage on CNN last week and in the Newham Recorder this week, and massive thanks to Geo and Gonzo from Hammers Chat for supporting us, and for their video posted a few days ago. If anyone wants to volunteer to stand with us for an hour or so then please DM me. We're on Twitter at @IFoodbanks if anyone wants to follow us for updates.
Looking forward to meeting some of you next week

Re: Irons Supporting Foodbanks
I wonder if Karen will be contributing any thing?
After all, she voted for the tax credits cut that have pushed a lot of people into poverty and reliance on food banks.

Fantastic stuff. I’m away for the next two home games but will be contributing thereafter!

Re: Irons Supporting Foodbanks
That's ace JB
We won't be doing anything for the Bournemouth game as it's too soon to get the permission from LS185, but we've already spoken with them about the Everton game on 18th January, so Saturday hopefully is just a formality to view the logistics, H&S etc to allow us to continue at all first team games.
The Everton game will bring plenty of interest as Dave Kelly from Blue Union, one of the founders of Fans Supporting Foodbanks, will be along to make a donation on behalf of their fans. Dave and Ian Byrne MP from Spirit of Shankly have been very helpful in getting our project off the ground.

Not me. Joel is the guy who runs the Newham Foodbank on Tollgate Road, Beckton.
He'll be there with us on Saturday.

Re: Irons Supporting Foodbanks
Very humbling for us to earn a mention in the ex-Rev's Christmas message, many thanks
A couple of updates:
1. The Supporters' Club has kindly offered to support our efforts. Whilst we won't be allowed to set up at our designated collection point before 2.30pm, anyone planning to donate and attend the AGM at 1pm can take donations to the Last Drop and I'll pick them up from there.
2. Sky News will be visiting Goodison Park tomorrow to report on their annual homeless Christmas dinner. There will be a discussion on foodbanks and football fan involvement and I'm told that Irons Supporting Foodbanks will be getting a mention.
Thanks for all your positive comments and support

I'm very pleased to confirm that the club is supporting our foodbank initiative, and will be promoting the event(s) across their media channels.
