Totally agree with Pinky.
Strong team to start.
If 2 or 3 up at half time make 2 substitutions.
Easy, this manager thing!!

He has got to take this seriously. If he puts out a reserve/youth side and we lose, all the goodwill generated from yesterday will go up in smoke faster than a papal election.

I can see the logic in resting some and bringing in some on the fringes, we should be able to take the opportunity to do that and still beat Gillingham.
I can also see the benefit of playing a first eleven to try and cement the formation and style into those doing it each week.
We all want a cup run, I hope the game is taken seriously and we approach it with the right mentality.

I think we can afford to make a few changes, all of the squad will want to prove themselves to the manager.
Keep the core of the side, and give a few others a go.

Pinky has called it, and that's exactly how I see it.
Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread
Ex on Twitter saying Moyeseh is taking the FA Cup very seriously and is setting out to win it.
I think a few players will be rested but I really really hope he plays Fab.

The Lee's are family friends so in an ideal world we'll thump them to 1 with Olly scoring the 1Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 10:43 am I note our old friend Olly Lee plays for them. Nailed on to score ?

----------Fabianski---------------
Fredericks----Diop----Balbuena-----Cresswell
----------Noble------Rice-----------
Snodgrass-------Lanzini-----Masuaku-----
----------------Haller----------------------
Subs: Martin/Anang, Zabaleta, Ajeti, Antonio, Anderson, Holland, Coventry
Keep Ogbonna and Fornals fresh for Sheff Utd.
If we are winning well. get Haller, Noble & Snodgrass off and Ajeti, Holland & Covenry on.
Anderson and Antonio on the bench if needed.
That's still a pretty strong team that isn't "reserves or youth".

He will play Fab, Ogbonna and Rice for sure IMHO
i expect Diop, Masuaku, Lanzini and maybe one 'youngster' to play - probably Holland
Maybe Ajeti but that is a bit of a risk

Why is the game kicking off at 18.16? What's the matter with 18.15? I think another FA cup game is kicking off at 19.56?
Confused..

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread
Do we know the reason behind the odd kick-off time?
Re the team, he will ring the changes but we have a good squad and should be competitive. I hope Martin gets the nod for this, too.
Martin
Zabaleta
Diop
Reid
Masuaku
Lanzini
Sanchez
Noble
Fornals
Yarmolenko
Ajeti

Moyes isn't being paid to manage us through a lovely cup run to please the fans. Expect massive changes and yet another painful exit to add to the list. Did anyone else go to the all Premier London derby League cup 1/4 final debacle at the Emirates during his last stint? I'd expect much the same. This isn't a pop at Moyes I quite like him. His remit has been set by the liars to keep their gravy train rolling along. Why are they going to start giving a **** about what the fans want suddenly?

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread
For me it doesn't matter if it our strongest 1st eleven or 2nd string. If our 'mental' attitude isn't spot on we will struggle. Get it right and our U23 team should win. I'm not advocating that just pointing out the real reason for success or failure against so called weaker teams. In any event I can see him giving Noble, Snodgrass, Ogbonna and Anderson a rest (as well as leaving out Antonio).

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread
Of course we should play our strongest side and play to win. Of course we should. But, despite it being the only competition we can still win this season, I doubt that it will be given much priority and there'll be no sleep lost if we crash out - inside the club that is.
He has been given a remit to avoid relegation - s.o.s. That is what matters to those pulling the strings, first and foremost. I can't see him doing anything at this stage to jeopardise that position. Sad, because I am sure that given a full season, things would be different.
He knows we want it, we know we want it. But we all know those who pull the strings have no desire for it, nor do they give a toss what we want.
Put your money on Gillingham. Hopefully it won't upset the players like the Oxford debacle did.

I'd play Ajeti. I just get the feeling that he's capable of much more than we've seen so far.
